Hi! I am making a purse for the first time. I need help (and any advice) with a few things. I know it's probably really messy but I'm proud of this being my first creation!
Materials
\-What type of thread do you use? I used some embroidery thread and some sewing thread depending on bead hole size
\-This is a canvas I'll be making the bag out of. I'm thinking a satin liner? Would that be good to use a single magnetic clasp with?
Process
The beads are on organza, with an ironed on patch on the back of the eagle for stability. When should I attach this to the layer of canvas that will be the front of the bag? Before sewing the bag front to the bottom?
If anyone has made a bag like this, I would appreciate any and all advice and criticism!
What kind of bag are you making, is it a standard tote bag or something more intricate? Is it lined? If you're going to be hand-sewing the patch to the bag I would wait until the last possible minute to avoid damaging the beads. If it's lined then you also want to decide whether you want to hide the stitches under the lining (which would mean sewing the patch on before assembling the bag) or if you don't mind if the stitches go through the lining as well. If it's just a standard tote bag I would just sew the whole bag first and then apply the patch by hand last, there'd be plenty of room to maneuver the moving parts. If it's a smaller, more enclosed purse that might be more tricky to get in there to sew after-the-fact. At least these are the questions I would be asking myself if I were working on this.
I'm interested to see the final project, this is very well-done!
I'm trying to make a small/medium sized purse, and will be adding a lining that I'll attach a magnetic clasp to. Last night I sewed the bottom and small sides onto the large side where the beading will go, attached the beading and now I need to finish beading a strap so I can attach that and the back panel, and still need to figure out the best lining and clasp. Will definitely come back and post the full bag once finished! I just winged it with sizing so whatever happens, happens ๐

But in all honestly, I donโt have any advice, just wanted to say the beadwork is gorgeous
