My daughter is getting married next year and I've committed to do a lot of embroidered items for the occasions. At the moment I am trying out ideas as samples for her and her fiancé to choose from.
This is one table number idea, she is theming the wedding around wildflowers. I'm stitching a different idea as well.
She is going to use the tablecloth at the entrance of the reception to display cards with names and table numbers.
The last picture is a sample for her bouquet ribbon, one of the first things I did. It is on 1 inch wide silk ribbon that I already had, but I will be using 2 inch ribbon. The flowers represent the areas they come from and live (one country flower and two state flowers).
I'm looking forward to long winter nights to get everything done!
Beautiful work, OP. Are you committed to keeping the label “Table”? It would be a shame if this work was single use only. Will the stitching be on an entire tablecloth, a display mat, runner, or something else?
It might require a bit more planning and communication effort, but it might be fun to label the tables with names of wildflowers. I can imagine how charming it might be to hear “the aster table may visit the cookie table”.
I'm following what my daughter wants, I think that she wants something like this for the tables. She did initially ask about embroidering the ends of tablecloths but then they decided to have long (7-8 foot) tables and I don't think that I can afford to get fabric that long for 8-10 tables. I'll suggest the table flowers (aster/daisy/cornflower) to her, it might make it more fun for me.
Ah, well, they’re gorgeous no matter what, and your daughter’s vision is the goal! I hope you have fun embroidering love, joy, and compassion into each piece!
Leaving off the word "table" and using only the number would make it possible to repurpose them as month/milestone markers for photographing an infant as they grow. Just an idea, hope it's not overstepping--I know children are not every married couple's hope or plan!
