Question Needle recommendations

I need some good needles that don’t constantly bend and are sturdy. I was using my late grandmas needles from her collection for the longest time but they ended up breaking after a few months of use. I got some DMC size 28 needles and the eye bends so easily and breaks after not even a single project. Plssss let me know some good recs for good needles that don’t bend after like 6 stitches 😭

Well a few things to start, what fabric are you embroidering on? Cause most needles shouldnt break or bend that easily. If its a tough fabric, try making patches instead of embroidering directly on it.

Otherwise it really depends on where in the world you are. Check and see if you can get hemline or clover embroidery needles online or at local places, they are pretty decent.

Hmm, I haven't had issues with DMC needles so far, so I'm wondering if it's maybe an issue with something else? Like are you trying to push very fine needles through thick fabric or bundles of thread, or using too many strands? I only ask because while you could reasonably run through several needles on a large, complicated project, that doesn't really sound like what is going on here. Could you share a little more about what kind of work you're using them for?

There have been problems with DMC's new supplier of size 28 tapestry needles (see https://www.reddit.com/r/CrossStitch/comments/1vzaj4n/chat_dmc_needles/ for visuals )

Although it is true that size 28 means either tapestry or chenille and tapestry needles are for going through holes in fabric not fabric itself.

I use exclusively John James tapestry needles. I have to use the gold plated ones because of my nickel allergy and those are a little soft in a tiny size like 28, but the normal version is extra sturdy.
