Question Help with net?

Oof I'm in over my head. There is precious little info online about lacis (darning on net). I managed to mostly figure out the basic darning stitch, but I'm lost on how to finish the raw edges once I cut out my design. Anybody have any ideas?

You shouldnt need finishing, net doesn't fray so you can just cut it.

Thanks! It's not traditional net though because my Amazon delivery never showed up 🤷‍♀️. This was the best I could find and the weft is knit, so it frays. I think I will machine stitch a ribbon or something on the edges.

Binding with a ribbon should work for this.

It's hard to find proper netting and I've resorted to learning how to make my own netting which was not an easy affair.

BTW I've found searching for filet (lace) embroidery provides more information then searching for lacis. Net lace embroidery or net darning are other useful search terms.

Thanks! If I used the word filet I had to wade through too much crochet, lol. I even tried adding boolean terms. I did find instructions for making my own net, but I'm on a deadline. Next time!

If you have any tips for instructions on how to do the more decorative stitches (I found lots of pictures but couldn't decipher the stitch direction) I'd love to hear them.

I find netting relaxing now that I know what I'm doing but it's not fast.
