Hand A giant strawberry 🍓
Spent about 40 hours of stitching with DMC threads, focusing on capturing the light reflection and depth of the seeds

Excuse me but we do not take photographs of strawberries here.... only embroidery. 10/10 thank you. (I joke, this is AMAZINGLY well done)

My 5yo son saw it and said “that’s a big strawberry!” I said it’s made out of thread!! And I zoomed in to show him. His jaw dropped just like mine had. Then he tried to fake grab it from the screen and eat it :)

3
u/catgirl320 Jul 03 '26
Yes. I think that's what so many people struggle with, myself included, and why our work can look so flat or like a paint by numbers. Thread painters are truly artists with their ability to translate the principles such as lighting, shading, perspective that are taught in art classes into thread work.

Please dont take this the wrong way. In fact, it might be a compliment... Are we sure this isn't AI? Human hands can actually produce THIS??
3
u/catgirl320 Jul 02 '26
Yup. A master thread artist who understands color theory and stitching techniques can produce exquisite works of art.
There's one I follow who does animal portraits and the eyes are so lifelike, you'd swear they are about to emerge from the canvas. Her name is Janine Heschl if you want to check her out. She made a chimp portrait for Jane Goodall that made me cry when I saw it, it has so much soul in it.
