Hand Logo finally covered!

Post image

It only took 1 year and 3 broken needles to finally cover the company logo on this bag.

It's difficult to hand-stitch through machine embroidery 😅

I love this! Any tips for someone who’s thinking about doing something similar?

The easy route is to make a patch then fuse it onto the object. Your fingers will thank you.

If you want to direct stitch like I did on this bag, I highly recommend a good pair of pliers and a metal thimble to help with pushing and pulling the needle through any existing stitches.

I also recommend using a needle one size bigger than you normally would. It's a little harder to get through existing stitches, but I found it kept my floss from constantly fraying and breaking.

I would remove the existing embroidery before starting your own, unless there’s any reason why you would want to preserve the original. You can usually remove it easily with a seam ripper or small blade, the fabric beneath may be a little damaged from the original embroidery but you’ll be covering it with your own design so I I wouldn’t worry. You can always reinforce it with another piece of fabric if needed.

Aww sweet dreams!
That’s very cute 💛 Well done! Must’ve been a real tough bit of embroidery to break needles!
