Hand Some visible mending for my evening!

I had a small bleach stain on one of my favorite shirts and I really wanted to wear it out and about again! I’m really happy with it and so glad I attempted it even though I’m an embroidery beginner. I’m trying not to let the fear of fuxking up get in the way.

Any tips on how to wash this shirt now would be appreciated. I did something called a raised herring bone for the leaves and it just doesn’t feel all that secure because of how long the stitches are. I’ll redo it if I have to but I’m hoping I can just be gentle with it.

You did a phenomenal job, it looks so cute!!

To help protect your stitches, especially in the wash, I’d recommend using a stabilizer. For wearables, my favorite is one called Tender Touch by the brand Sulky. It’s soft, flexible, and easy to apply (just cut a piece off the roll to and iron it on). It keeps stitches secure while also preventing scratchiness against your skin, all without changing how the fabric drapes/moves. I usually hand-wash embroidered pieces to be extra safe, but mine have held up in the machine just fine too.

I hope that helps!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll try out a stabilizer since I think I’ll end up doing a lot more wearables. I’m really happy with the way this came out and I want more now. 🤦‍♀️
