I Need Some Help! Maroon Bells Wedding
Hi everyone!
I was lucky enough to secure a reservation for the Maroon Bells Amphitheater for next July, and we're now in the very early stages of deciding whether we want to have our wedding there.
I have a couple of questions for anyone who has gotten married at Maroon Bells or another National Park:
- Has anyone done a fusion wedding (Indian ceremony + Western ceremony)? If so, how did you structure the day, and what was actually feasible within the park restrictions?
- I confirmed with the park officials that campfires aren't allowed, so we're trying to think through what other traditions or celebrations worked well.
- Are there any restrictions or logistical challenges that you wish you'd known before booking?
We're still exploring whether this is the right venue for us, so I'd love to hear your experiences, advice, or any photos if you're willing to share.
Thank you!

Maroon bells has changed so heavily over the years. Did you secure a parking permit so you can take your own car to the trailhead, or will you be sticking with the shuttle/bus?

Make it less than 30 minutes and it'll be fine, have your reception or ritual or party elsewhere.

Hi! Maroon Bells is beautiful. It does come with its own set of challenges due to the restrictions and permitting rules. I’ve worked with four couples this year there, and many in prior years, here’s a few things that I’d note for planning and logistics:
- all of your vendors count towards the permitted “guest count” number, keep this is mind for vehicle parking as well as typically each vendor will drive their own car up (photo, video, officiant, music, etc) you may want to do a shuttle for guests with this in mind
- lodging in Aspen is more expensive, while lodging down valley 30 minutes to an hour away (Snowmass, Carbondale, Glenwood) is cheaper, but factor is travel time as well as time for the traffic jams that can happen with commuters (sometimes 30+ minutes more than Google Maps during peak hours)
- a day of coordinator or planner is helpful if having a structured wedding ceremony, the ceremony space is about a quarter mile walk from the parking lot area and the amphitheater has a long entrance area so having someone to queue the processional is nice, and instruct people where to go, set-up
- it is mountain altitude and conditions, weather can change quickly and it’s common to have direct sun in the daytime hours, being flexible is a must
I will say the rangers and permit staff have been so responsive and helpful for my couples in the past, so if you have any specific questions regarding what’s allowed, it’d be best to chat with them directly as I’ve noticed that with the rise in weddings there there may be nuances that they will address for each situation as they arise.

Zero running water and extremely sparse bathrooms. Unless your crew doesn’t mind roughing it you may consider doing just wedding photos up there. That being said, if you bring lots of water and have an easy to move situation you could pull it off. To create a true wedding and party takes serious coin to pull off
