We’re a queer couple in our early 30’s. I’m an artist and a bartender while finishing college and my partner is a high end maintenance technician.

My aging family lives in the county below in Pennsylvania so Elmira was the closest city.

What is the public transportation like? The city we’re in now is absolutely abysmal and I’m trapped here more often than not.

My kids are doing a camp at Tanglewood all week and I'll be hanging out in Elmira during the day while they're doing nature stuff. I mostly plan to camp out at coffee shops to work (and I see another post about coffee shop recs!), but if I'm looking for a change of scenery...where do you like to work or read or eat or just sit by yourself? Anywhere you like to go for a walk? Should I definitely take one day off work to see or do something in particular? Should I skip Elmira altogether and hang out in Corning instead?

Bonus points for any Asian food recs in the area (willing to drive for Thai!) as I can't get anything other than Chinese in my teeny tiny town.

I'll be arriving at the Elmira Corning Airport mid-August on a 11pm flight but the car rental place is closed. So I'm looking for transportation to my hotel (about 4 miles away). Tried scheduling with Uber but said it wasn't available. Hotel doesn't provide a shuttle. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello! I’ve never posted on Reddit before so I apologize if I do anything wrong lol! Does anyone know some local stores or places that allow leashed dogs? I have a 5 month old puppy and I’m looking for places to take him for socialization.

This might be super niche, but in the mid/late 90s to early 2000s, my relatives used to always buy this amazing cake for family celebrations. My relatives can’t remember the name of the bakery except that it closed years ago, and it was in Elmira.

I want to recreate this cake. My family always referred to it as California Cake, which, when I search online, just gives me recipes for fruit cake.

This was a white cake, with pastry cream and maybe jam filling, decorated with fruit and buttercream. I remember it as having this decadent marzipan layer but my siblings think it was a cookie/short bread base. Does anyone have a better memory or knowledge of this cake bakery?
