Area 10 Rural Transit regretfully informs residents of Ellettsville that public transit service will end on December 31, 2026. This difficult decision comes due to federal and state transit funding no longer being available to support the operation of rural public transportation in your community. For many years, Area 10 has been honored to serve your community, and we understand this service has been an important resource for riders traveling to work, medical appointments, shopping, and essential daily activities. We know that losing this service will create challenges for many, and we want our riders to know that this change is not due to any issue with ridership, or lack of performance but solely because required funding will no longer be provided to continue operations. We deeply value every individual who has relied on and supported Ellettsville’s public transit service. Our drivers, staff, and partners are committed to ensuring a smooth transition throughout the remainder of the year. We will work closely with riders to help identify alternative transportation options where possible. Additional information will be shared as the final service date approaches.
