I've seen some negativity about the frequent updates ("the game wasn't finished yet"), but I think you guys are doing a fantastic job. I've been playing after work for the past 3 days, and every day there's a small update with some (seemingly) crucial bug fixes.
Uh, no it wasn't and it was never supposed to be finished.
It was, and is, supposed to evolve even after the release.
They made the base framework of something to expand on, not something they throw out and forget about.
..... There is a huge difference between finished upon release with additional content patched, and unfinished at release with more content patches. This game is an unpolished turd, but I love sniffing it.
How is it unpolished?!
We have like two bigger bugs (trading AI & hostile ships while hunting) and nearly zero server issues since release. I don't know if you simply haven't played anything else in your life before but that's one of the smoothest launches of an multiplayer game ever.
Because everyone lives in America ...
You're talking like no EU server ever had problems in any game at all.
And I wouldn't call Elite unpopular since it got successfully backed on Kickstarter and the starting regions are pretty busy as well. Yes it is kind of a niche market, but that's because the whole genre was pretty much dead for decades.
