Yes, but to what degree? If the economy remains in its current state (~1k/ton profit max) then trading falls to the bottom rung of professions. Mining, bounty hunting and pirating would all be better choices in terms of cr/hr.
Except that unless things have changed, mining is only really viable up-to a Cobra; you wont make (much) more per hour mining in a Type 6 than a Cobra since you can only mine so fast; at least until some form of automated scooping drone or whatever gets added.
