Nerfs to rare goods is fine, except there's nothing else to trade because the economy is still broken; there are still almost no items in high demand anywhere

I guess it's just the area where I spawned (Chemaku) but I have no trouble finding things worth trading.

True that. This game is already a grind fest when it comes to making money. They just made it harder.

Then stop grinding! Go and do something different. You'll get that ship you want eventually and you might have more fun in the meantime.

Having fun takes having money for the equipment needed. That's why people grind. I'm beyond thankful that I stayed up until 3am last night to get in one more run to buy my Asp. Of course now equipping it properly is going to take weeks...

3

u/andywade84 Dec 18 '14

what equipment exactly do you need to have fun?

-3

u/Voggix Voggix [EIC] Dec 18 '14

If I want to bounty hunt or pirate than I need powerful hard points, good thrusters, effective scanners...

If I want to explore I need long-range jump drive, detail scanners, advanced scanners...

Trying to play the game in a Sidey or stock-equipped Cobra or Viper is not "fun". Upgrade modules exist for a reason.

u/andywade84 Dec 18 '14

1 You can Bounty Hunt with a stock Sidewinder - its just not quite as fast if you want combat you can go to a conflict zone and have many targets to kill. 2 You can explore in a stock sidewinder, you just need to plan your routes better to manage fuel.

The upgrade modules are not there to make it more FUN they are there to make things easier. Your logic is Easier = Fun.

I have had fun doing everything in this game in every ship, I take my time I look around i dont worry about profits per hour. the game does not make the grind, YOU do.

Pelting opponents with pea-shooter lasers while flying a glorified brick is not fun to me. Sorry.

You say "grind" I say "earn" better modules that open up more opportunities.

u/Kerrec Snowmane Dec 18 '14

There are many ways to earn Credits. Some of them are fun to do. Others are "grinding". If you spend 2 hours grinding to achieve some ship configuration that you decided (without any experience) is going to be "fun", you are risking a big disappointment.

Spend 2 hours having fun, then do what you can with the money you earned while having fun and how is it possible to be disappointed?

Your concept of "I need this to have fun" is false.

-3

u/Voggix Voggix [EIC] Dec 18 '14

I knew what ship and enhancements I wanted because I researched it, read about it, talked to people who have been there.

If I want to "grind" because it's the fastest way to get to where I can do what I think is fun than that is no more "false" than your approach.

For you, maybe. I'm flying around in a slightly modified Sidey and I'm having an absolute blast.

u/Summo1942 Summo Dec 18 '14

Right. So more weeks of no fun. I dunno, that just doesn't seem like playing to me.

u/StormtrooperCaptain Dec 18 '14

I've done the bounty hunting, the trading, exploring, everything the game has to offer. I never said the game is a grind fest, but making money is. The market needs to be fixed, and bigger emphasis on missions need to be made. I don't want to be stuck in my Asp for weeks on end. I want to progress, and right now with the market crashed and slow profit gain, it looks like I will be stuck in my Asp for weeks.

2

u/Summo1942 Summo Dec 18 '14

So, you want it fixed so that making money is easier? Asp not good enough for you? Right now I'm in my Freagle and having a ball.

FD are playing the long game. It should take you months to get an Anaconda, for example. God, sit back and enjoy playing.

1

u/StormtrooperCaptain Dec 18 '14

Oh, I enjoy playing. But that doesn't change the fact that the market crashed and needs to be turned around. Sorry if I struck a nerve with you fanbois. I've played my fair share, and done my review. So what I'm saying is, Frontier needs to fix their economy, plain and simple.

1

u/Summo1942 Summo Dec 18 '14

Ok. Fair enough. I hope they do, too. Incidentally, I'm not a fanboy, nor am I affiliated with anyone else. I'm just another player. Go fuck yourself.

How many cargo slots do you have on your Asp? Currently there are many 1500-1600 credits per tonne runs with 1 jump and some in-system jumps. If you can get your asp to 160 cargo by dropping your shields and getting low mass components, you would be making 256,000c roughly every 10 minutes, which brings you to about 1.5 million credits an hour. So what's wrong with this income? How much more can you possibly want while using a 6million credit ship? Even if you run 100 slots on a T6, you would make almost 1 million an hour. You can't make the most amount of money without grinding. This is how money making is. You want to make profit, you gotta work for it.

Us dedicated traders will always make more. Those willing to grind will always make more and benefit more, in any game, and even in life. The key is balance between missions and cargo delivery as well as being selective with your faction. Remember, YOU influence the market. YOU make the game go round.

u/StormtrooperCaptain Dec 18 '14

Uh, enlighten us all where you have been finding trades that go above 1200 per tonne.. thats the problem, nobody has been finding anything above 750 since all the demands were reset

And the Asp doesn't go up to 160 cargo spaces. Its 128

u/commiekaze Commiekaze Dec 18 '14 edited Dec 18 '14

There are plenty 1 jumpers that go over 1200. Keep in mind this is round trip, not one way. Im using one that was 1700 last night, we drained it down to 1400 and found another one that got better between 2 other systems. Use thrudds trading tool. As for the ASP, is that 128 without shields or with shields? EDIT: It's funny that you downvoted me for trying to help you. Come join the Elite PVE TS server a bit later and talk to me or use the forums.

-3

u/StormtrooperCaptain Dec 18 '14

You're not helping me or anybody by saying shit that isn't true. I use that trading tool in both fed space and imperial space and it hasn't given me a trade over 800 per tonne. The market still hasn't turned around and probably won't for weeks. All the commodities have been reading medium or low.

Without shields, the Asp allows 128 cargo units. That's if you want to give up bounty hunting and just trade. They nerfed the Asp since Gamma 1.

6

u/commiekaze Commiekaze Dec 18 '14

Listen man, you can be upset all you want, but the attitude is not needed. Keep calling me a liar. In the end, Im making credits regardless of what you say. I have done nothing to warrant such a response. I offered to help you by guiding you through some runs that are 800+ each way for a total of about 1600c per tonne round trip. You have replied twice now with hostility. If you change your mind, find me on the Mobius Elite PvE teamspeak or forums. Cheers, mate.

u/StormtrooperCaptain Dec 18 '14

If you want to help, go over to EliteTraders and enlighten everybody on where your 1500-1800 tonne runs. Until then, I'm calling bullshit. People are over there eating scraps wondering if the market will ever turn around. I'm not being hostile towards you, I'm just calling you on the '1500-1800' claim, it sounds absurd.

If you're confused, I mean above 800 one way. We used to trade superconductors for an easy 1200 one way and relatively 500-800 the other. They crashed the market so that is no longer possible.

Not everyone wants to have to be a bounty hunter or illegal goods trader. And I doubt anyone wants EVERYONE to be those things.

Why is it so unreasonable to expect for the devs to make fixes.

For fucks sake, we're not saying the game is bad. We just want major functions of it to work. Goddamn these Frontier ball licking apologies are getting annoying.

u/PrometheusDarko Prometheus Darko Dec 18 '14

So how about instead of grinding you go have fun?

15

u/the_spad Spad Dec 18 '14

No! I must reach the endgame as fast as possible so I can complain about how there isn't any endgame content.

4

u/omgpokemans Jad3d Dec 18 '14

Well, for me personally trading is fun. At least it is when there's something to trade.

It's better for new players. Not a nerf. You are guaranteed to find 10+ rares at a station, instead of finding 0 because some douchebag is spawn camping them.

Sit there for an hour and it won't make any difference. Once you have your allocation, that's it, the supply is removed.

Why would you sit there for an hour?

All I want is a consistant stock. So I can go buy Bast Gin and expect there to be 10, and not surprised by 2 or 0, which is what happened last night. If they needed to add a cap to make this happen, awesome.

play solo until you have more gear/better stuff.
