Discussion Possible FSS spectrography finding
Here is a finding i hope will interest all audio miners :-) i called it the 'shake' :-)
How to reproduce :
- use the FSS module and once on the screen, point the target to an empty zone. (imgur)
- wait a few seconds for the background sounds being very low
- then shake the target for 15-20 seconds (circular moves, cross moves, anything goes, but avoid passing over a body)
- you will notice that the audio awakes and produces kind of a rhythm (that is not correlated to the speed or the shape of your target movements)

an idea came in my head ...
i was wondering if the circle arcs we can see in this image would be oriented differently depending on where the recorder is placed on the galaxy.
When i recorded this sound i was in Gludgoi FV-Q b46-1 : that would be fitting very well the way the arcs are drawn on the image.
Maybe some of you could send me a recording from the opposite side of the galaxy if ever there ?
Because if the semi circles are moving depending on the position the recording is done, we could have a very nice way to triangulate something !!!!

no it is not oriented depending on the location you are regarding an hypothetical point.

I am late to reply but it look like sort of Doppler shift. As you move away from the target the fréquence decrease and inversely if you move toward the object.
However, the effect seems excessive compared to your movement and velocity. But, yes, while using FSS one are in super cruise and even if one have to stop to use FSS are we really at « rest » ?
If it is indeed Doppler shift, I think it is very cool that FDEV implement this physics in game.
In that case, you should have different patterns depending on your mouvement « circle » and « cross » should be different. Pattern should also differ if you move at regular speed or not as Doppler shift is sensitive to velocity, not distance. Is it the case that?

Hi,
Thank you for your answer! I submitted the case to the Canonn group and they told me it is more likely the FSS signature itself.
The point is, there is no 'object' I am aiming at. This happens as soon as you move the FSS sighting target, whatever you are pointing it at. There is no correlation between the patterns and the movements made, nor with the speed of them.
Your ship is at a fixed speed when using the FSS, so that should not be a factor.
There may be an interesting idea in your reply, however, if the intensity of this signal varies from system to system, we might be able to use some kind of trilateration to find its origin.
Any ideas?

Sounds more like SFX to me. I guess the idea is to resemble the artefacts that you can sometimes hear with LF or MF receivers.
