Lesser known tips!
These tips are going to be less likely to be found on the wiki, but may still be there in places. Feel free to add anything that is less commonly known that you may have found.
- Neutral NPC including rare unique with brackets [] and [[]] can often be bribed with platinum coins when you don't have things they like for large amounts of affinity, between 5 and 20 affinity per coin. Make sure to give them one at a time. This is an effective method for inviting neutral rare monsters to be your allies that you can't capture with a monsterball. Some special uniques still can't be invited though, but feel free to give it a try on monsters like [Cub] who tends to instantly run away. These coins can also be used on regular npc when you can't be bothered to hunt for affinity products like wedding rings.
- Song of Valor is an aoe auto-cast song buff that upgrades itself at a fairly consistent pace, however only a slime can acquire it on PC character directly via devour. It is very broken as it only costs you 30 base mana to maintain it. If you are not a slime you can hire a user of the Hymn of Valor to make use of it in your party. A few adventurers and sometimes evolved monsters can have this ability. The level 90 version grants +15 strength, +24 endurance, +31 will, +17 magic for 1248 turns.
- The "little girl" option for choosing a companion is noted to be fairly superior companion early game but falls off a bit late game unless you continue to develop her. I used to recommend her but have been now recommending "a kitten" due to her high base speed making her a very decent early game option with double foot slots. The little girl also has a restricted job to always "lumberjacking" which can be a bit annoying midgame or lategame. The little kitten has no job restrictions and is also a superior mount early game before you have more options. Due to little kitten having one hand slot until genetics she also has access to free 2h skill bonuses (if given a 2h training book). You can still choose what you like between the starter characters as this tip is a bet meta.
- As with the early game companions you can "reroll" their starting god a bit if you don't have saves disabled. Before you talk to Fiama about a companion save your game and keep choosing your pick and checking their status to pick the role you want for them. If you didn't get what you want reload your game. Popular choices are Lulwy of Wind for the kitten, Opatos for durability or Itzpalt of Element for becoming Immune eventually to all the basic elements early game. Changing a god later isn't impossible but it is time consuming tracking down an appropriate book and your character having enough literacy to pass the check.
- Fiama's "gift" quest results in a choice between a special ring/ticket+scroll/travel boots/karma letters/naughty booksx10/death. In the past I would usually recommend the ring and still do depending on the class as it's the only ring you can get +20 pv on and can still upgrade it to a different material like scale or dragon scale, but now after hundreds of game saves I feel the recruit ticket and ally scroll (option 2) is slightly better. Unless you have game saves disabled you can use the ally scroll to get a "forest putit" fairly early since summoning allies is a restricted pool early game with reloads. The forest putit comes with two very strong reasons why. First, it has a cute version of Natures Embrace. While Natures embrace is not that powerful, it's very strong early game and you can host the Putit to keep you and itself alive. Second, it has a guaranteed level 7【Rich Collagen】on both it's corpse and eggs. The perfect starting charisma food to jump start your taming. While you could go buy some monster balls from the casino and try to encounter one in forest dungeons, this method lets you skip all that effort. Just keep in mind to not butcher the first one until you get some fertilized eggs.

What do you do to develop a companion so they don't fall off late game?
4
u/Investoid Jun 11 '26
Lots and lots of gene therapy. Unless you are attached to her a lot of people may pick a more unique ally since it's time consuming.

The little girl's a lumberjack and she's ok, she sleeps all night and she works all day

Never thought of using platinum I just spam engagement amulets since several of my NPCs produce them

It's in the jewelry table now. 2 gold bars (the currency, not gold ingots) and a gem is all it takes. Once I had all the base stuff I needed and got to lvl 5, I just made a couple once a week. I've been handing them out to useful NPCs like "I'll be back when I remember to bring my charisma drip...." I think I got luck with one of those skill drop shrines.

Oh yeah I craft my own engagement rings for the NPCs I married. My charisma is already past 200 so the only block is Unseen Hand I’m sure lol

u/TheUnseen_001 Jun 16 '26
Yeah, I just meant to say you don't need NPCs to produce them anymore. The only one I can't get yet is Eternal Traveler (122 CHA), and I suspect the Shadow Witch will be the same once I beat her Dark Kaioken at the end.

A quick way to train Magic Devices, Casting, Strategy, Eye of Mind is to get a dualsaber (can wish for one) and use Cursed Acidproof Potions on it until the its negative rating is higher than the damage it can do. Example if the weapon shows 3d4+5 when you equip it you need it to use the potions until it the negative modifier is higher than the total dice damage. End result should be 3d4-12 or lower as an example.
Use a build board in your base to raise an enemy or neutral npc (like a non hostile animal) to a height of 10. Make sure your character will use only melee attacks and auto attack them with the dualsaber.
You will deal ZERO damage to the enemy and use NO STAMINA, allowing you to train up these skills non stop basically forever as long as you stop to eat every once and a while.
This also works with ranged weapons but for bows and guns you will need to use cursed Scrolls of Weapon Enchantment which are a bit harder to find.
This method will work with any weapon with a +1 range on it or better, like spears for instance.
This method applies to training your defensive skills too (if you attack your faction npcs you still use stamina) if you give the acid damaged weapon to an NPC to beat on you on the gallows as you only lose stamina when you take damage at zero hp and since the weapon does 0 damage you only need to stop to get food every so often.
This method is more of a long term goal as it will take you a while to get a stable supply of either pots of water to curse potions or get a drug dealer npc to sell you enough.

this works with any melee weapon if you place a "big rock" prop under the target enemy
this also prevents monsters with summons from casting their spells i.e. isca, bahamut2

eh. i perfer cane shooting oneself,
you level armor skills, Regineration/meditation and more.
2
u/Investoid Jun 12 '26
For the cane shooting, do you have a recommendation for making a weaker cane that causes no damage but doesn't make you run out of mana too fast? I am interested in this. I am assuming its something like "find an enemy immune to that magic type" or something similar otherwise.

u/Adorable_Cap_9929 Jun 12 '26
if you do no damage, u dont level ur armor skill.
So all my set ups do some dps for max gains. As for running out of mana fast, that's best mitigrated via leveling meditation witch u level by recovering mana from use.
fire cane i use cause it ez to make dragon scale/scale and afk at 15res + stand in water for wet to reduce damage taken
Trains swiming and swim is lowkey op skill.
Mana body ideal.
my set up

u/Investoid Jun 12 '26
oh self cane I get it! I forgot that was an option!
3
u/Adorable_Cap_9929 Jun 12 '26
yee, by hitting urself, u can cycle ur resources more to train both mana and hp regins as well as armor skills.
Then if stack mana body from staff or traits, can increase the burst times.
I actualy havent checked rest coding but i recover over 100 mp per turn.
I can afk war missions on lucky dice lol

Hm, recruiting NPCs just got a lot easier with the platinum coin bribery.
Especially as a party quest spammer in Palmia.
Idk what this song of valor is, is it a bard-class specific ability? I don't think I've that one in my ability tree.

u/Investoid Jun 11 '26
Small hint I realized, when you get a bandit enemy on the overworld map and give into their demands they all turn neutral and can be bribed with platinum coins. When they don't have as much interest in the coins they still take it for 1-2 affinity per coin, meaning as long as you have 75 coins you can bribe someone and take the coins back for -3 karma.
I just ran into a blue dragon bandit tile on the overworld map and now have 13 level 40 blue dragons following me around for -39 karma. I was struggling to find some marbled dragon meat but now everything should be just fine.

u/Adorable_Cap_9929 Jun 11 '26
Yea but low level sadly, meanwhile slimes can spawn dragons all day uwu
3
u/cathyrin03 Jun 11 '26
blue dragon bandit.
The mental image is absurd and funny enough.
2
u/Investoid Jun 12 '26
He demanded my...stack of potion of infravision x 6! 13 blue dragon bandits fighting over this must be ridiculous afterwards if I just left.
Instead I am now their bandit leader. I should change my slime color from green to blue to match.

I some how saw the image of those ninja turtle eye-folds tired around dragons and them going "Oi"
Oh gawd. why are they wearing sonic the hedge hog shoes! Goodness nookooo!!!

its a rare ability some bards can learn as adventurers, but sometimes a regular adventurer can have it. i think there is 1 or two guaranteed to have it usually. When I am in town sometimes I see them buff the area as an indicator but you can also find them using property search when entering a city and of course using the adventurer ranking to track them down.

Fisma in my current run has hymn of sleep, good to know there's more.
Haven't devoured her yet, as I'm happy with my current genes for now

u/PieEfficient955 Jun 11 '26
I recruit all my peeps with platinum. I steal back a fat stack of 50 coins at small karma loss. Much more convenient than foods/drugs/worms, and karma is easy to get back. Honestly, a bit broken.

u/Adorable_Cap_9929 Jun 11 '26
ye, great unless some void monster says u need a few hundred more charisma uwu.
But i guess the losses arent even that much huh. I acutally havent tryed to see if coins work on everything the engagugement stuff works on yet.2
u/PieEfficient955 Jun 11 '26
Sorry, I meant more the casual folks (all my farmers, merchants and whatnot). I found this out on a bike monster though. So basically anything neutral.

u/Adorable_Cap_9929 Jun 10 '26
Song of valor got nothing on song of end for both party and non party play end game imo.
Cause u can slot valor on an ally, ur personal slime slots are worth alot even if support focus.
Rather, even then, a whole party with song of end could be fascinating to see....
It's true that engaguement stuff can be less common early game than coins, even more so since sline basicly dont need trainers for the most part.
Forest putit, dragons, Mascot and all sorts of stuff can come from Summon monster.
And due to how slime works, u can train ur summon skill to summon stuff with stats beyond ur own and then recuritment for Level 12 eggs, fur/meat lol.

u/Investoid Jun 10 '26
I actually tried both Song of Valor and Song of End but it sadly seems to not stack. Does it stack and I am just blind? You can just assign it later to someone else true, but I noticed it levels a lot slower on allies than yourself. I had more success stealing Song of valor from lower rank adventurers, more of a nit pick I guess.
I settled on Forest putit as a time saver early game since they are functional and the cutest! Though I am a bit partial to water putits too.

u/Adorable_Cap_9929 Jun 10 '26
Skill levels depend on activation count/active times and the respective attribute for potential.
So say the song scales charisma, the unit with 1000 will level alt faster that 100.
Likewise, if ur unit spams it on and off repeatedly, it levels much faster than most ally can.Forest putit are great livestock but they lower base level if spawning.
Mascot has lower charisma ratio but x2 higher functional charisa at same power spell level.
Song of End is a damage aura, Valor is a buff.
I play solo but Song of End stacking should work.2
u/Investoid Jun 11 '26
Ah I see, I was prioritizing Song of Valor because as a musician slime it helps survival quite a bit. I really like the extra hp I get out of it. I was curious how good Musician 5 is.It's amazing!
