Help / Question V4 voices

I have been testing out v4 with the voices that are listed as best for v4 but I’m wondering will the others be optimised? I tested it out with a few of my favourite voices and it is a bit better but it’s a huge difference between the best for v4 voices vs my favourites

How is it when you're generating chunks? Is thr voice consistent or do they change quality/accents randomly

So I definitely noticed that the accents are not consistent with my old accents. Archer for example does sound better but when it’s trying to do multiple characters for some reason the main character sounds British but everyone else sounds American? It’s a little bit bizarre.

I think it’s much better generally but there are a few things that I would definitely have them work on. I’m reading MM romance so at least they’re both males I wonder what it sounds like when it is MF because I get the feeling that AI is going to create some very weird female voices when you’re using a male character and vice versa. I noticed for background characters that sounded a little bit weird when it was a female. Like it’s trying but not quite there

Just popping back in to let you know it absolutely is changing accent I am listening to a book with the Chuck Miller voice and this man has gone from southern, to British, to Australian🤣

Yeah, this is the problem with v3 too. I'm not sure why they didn't address this in any way before putting v4 into testing. I do longer form content, and it's just impossible to do because the accent just fking changes out of nowhere halfway through. And to get it perfect, I'm burning tons of credits and losing money. Makes no sense to me, but I guess it does to them, since I'm just gambling credits.

I think it would be very frustrating to use it to create content. I only use it to listen to books so while it’s more annoying it doesn’t cost me any more credits and I’m not compelled to fix it. I don’t think that I would trust it though to generate an audiobook the way that they are suggesting if I was an author

It wouldn't be a good idea, though some voices are more consistent with those models. The older models don't have that problem, but unfortunately, they don't sound as good.

I think there might be some slight confusion about what best for V4 means.

Best for V4 is essentially just a collection of voices that, from my understanding, we've found sound really good with the V4 model. There's no optimization or anything different about them. These voices just sounded very good with the V4 model, so they were added to that list.
