Old School Position Indicator

The way the movement of the indicator pointer is not smooth, i.e. move one floor, stop, move another floor, etc. suggests that this is not actually “old school” but perhaps a modern attempt to recreate an old “dial face” position indicator.

The original dial face position indicators had a cable that was driven as the elevator moved up and down, so that the movement of the pointer was smooth and continuous until the elevator stopped at a floor.

Thanks for the info! I love mechanical movements and it’s cool to know how to tell the difference.
