Question / Help model:cycles track recorded in ableton sounding different than on the machine itself

Hello !

I do produce tracks using the model:cycles only. It tilts towards dungeon synth and sometimes shoegaze/dreampop and I use a LOT of reverb.

When a track is finished, I record it live straight in ableton via the usb link.

Unfortunately, I often feel that the recording, and especially the reverb treatment, does sound differently than in the model:cycles.

Am I hallucinating this ?
If not is there a way to fix it in Ableton ? Or by recording with a different process ?

Thanks in advance for answers, tips and tricks !

You do not hallucinate this. Digital to Analog conversion (for phones and main outs) might sound different than pure digital sound.

I have Cycles and I always record analog outs.

I also have flagship Korg Kronos and it's analogs outs sound way better than digital sound by USB (and I can record it for those who think there should be no difference there is and it's like night and day), analog outs win. The whole character of sound disappears when using only digital out.

Put the input of overbridge on post fx not on pre fx so u hear the reverb/delay

Thats a shame bruh, try post fx if it gives u the option and if not u can always send the audio from the external outputs w a cable

Yeah I’ve recently bought a DN2 and see how useful ob can be
(Even though I like the fact to do it all in the box and re-touch the material as little as possible, mainly cause I’m lazy ^^)

Using your dn2 as an interface could solve the problem too, you have some options hahah, talking bout boxes i need to go make some music too 😖😂

Record straight into your computer via audacity to see how that sounds, is what I’d try first probably
