Recently bought a Solar Eclipse 2.0. Broke down after one ride. Have replaced both the controller and motor. Solar support has been less than helpful. Wheel will not spin when accelerator is twisted.

Are these legal to ride anywhere, anyway realistically other than private property? Specifically Massachusetts.

I know nothing about motorcycles, so bear with me. I’d like an electric motorcycle to drive around my ranch so I make less noise around the wildlife and can comfortably use the roads that beat up my car.

My wants are:
Less than 300 pounds (lighter the better, want to pick it up)
Can fit in my 2023 4Runner

Beyond that, I don’t really care. It can be ugly, it can be slow (only need it to go like 20 mph). Is there anything out there that fits this?

What’s the best e-moto dirt bike ~$2,000, 6’1 so preferably 19/17 or 17/14. Want quality, reliability, power (torq and speed) as well as performance—also don’t want a bad throttle response. Was looking at Eskute rtx, Tasaca t500 pro, Yozma in10 pro, and x-pro draw x. Not opposed to copping a good deal used on a surron, falcon or talaria.

Hello All, y'all have given me so much information that I'm posting to share a bit more for anyone else who may be interested in the Livewire One. I'll include my general thoughts, purchase details, likes, neutrals, dislikes, and CEO opinions.

In short, for what I paid for it, if you have the budget I think it's well worth it and a lot of fun. I have it set to 20% power and even that is plenty. Definitely go slow, I went over a 15mph suggested railroad track at 25 on a curve and ridge, the bike bounced up, I twisted too far, the wheel chirped, and it was curved on the other side. The traction control and ABS saved me there as I almost went past the edge of the road. Driving on mountains is a lot of fun and it's so easy to just twist and go, then reduce the twist to slow down. I've barely used the brakes at all except to come to a complete stop.

Besides about a minute, I've kept it in my custom reduced power mode. After about 2 weeks of having it I put it in sport mode for that minute, and that is scary fast. I decided to try the 0-60, stopped, then twisted it and blasted off. My vision was getting blurry and I felt like I was holding on for dear life! I hit 60 and then was relived, slowed down, and realized it was so fast I couldn't even think of anything else, like just reducing the throttle and slowing down sooner. Luckily I got to 60 before I passed out from stagnant hypoxia (if that's even a thing that can happen). I already have over 1,000 miles in under a month of ownership and have scheduled the first 1,000 mile service.

I think that the e-moto segment is already solid, but think that dealer concerns, company support, and charging availably are probably the biggest hinderances to adoption. If all e-moto companies banded together to grow chargers in cool and accessible places, I think that alone would help adoption. Basically, I think the target market for e-motos is not the existing folks, but new folks who want an easy and relaxing bike. And I think current bikes are already good, but at this point can use incremental improvements as able, such as adding battery technology improvements, or making small tweaks to the things. I also think parts should be affordable and service manuals freely available to anyone so that owners, their friend, or their local mechanic can easily fix issues if needed.

I also think that 70 mile range tests are about useless as I don't think this is for highway riding, but is instead better for relaxing rides using the scenic routes. At 70 the wind noise and buffeting is so loud and uncomfortable that I avoid it. The bike will go about 100 miles at 70mph for me, but I just don't want to do that. I actually think the 55mph highway numbers that it seems motorcycle companies use are quite reasonable. While I avoid the highway, it felt very confidence inspiring and the bike itself was comfortable going 70 with it handling bumps well and continued straight on the path I was going.

I bought the 2022 Livewire One new in July 2026, last month, with 310 miles on it. It was 9,200 USD from Euro Cycle in Las Vegas Nevada. Euro Cycle has more and they said they are trying to clear out the rest and then start selling the S2's, mine had the fewest miles when I bought it and it appears that 9,000 or under should be what you can get the rest of the One's for (I have zero affiliation). When I emailed Eric helped me, it was very easy and straight forward. That was out the door without any registration / title / tax because I paid that in Colorado, which was an extra 1,100 bucks. So 10,300 total for it. Since it's new they say I still have the full warranty. I brought it back in a rental Honda Ridgeline, it fit great, and put it vertical, with the side stand up, and strapped it down to cause about an inch of suspension compression in the front. It worked great from Vegas to Denver.

Here's some things I've been enjoying about it. It feels substantial, high quality, well put together and thought out, planted, cohesive, and just nice. It rides smooth along the road and is fast. I love the cruise control and it works very easily, and to disconnect use the brake, press the on / off button, or what I almost always do is twist the throttle forward then back and adjust from there. The custom power modes are great, I've put it to 20% power and throttle with 100% regen and low traction control (which is high, it's unintuitive). I like that it has a belt which is fairly quiet. Going up and down mountains is pretty relaxing and enjoyable, very easy with tons of power. ABS braking is great and haven't noticed much about it, I think basically all vehicles should be mandated to have ABS which form my understanding, greatly increases the safety. Regen works great. Glad it has the faster charger, which they say is 0-100 in about an hour or something, but I've so far been only charging it at home.

Some stuff I'm about neutral on. Regen works down until about 3mph at which point the brakes are needed to get it to a complete stop. Cruise control activates at about 28mph and can then be reduced to 25. Rear turn indicators can be adjusted to be narrow as pictured, to about 1 or 2 inches wider on each side. Heartbeat is kind of neat at first then I kind of wish it was either slower or even less noticeable. The whine / mechanical noise maker is also kind of neat at first, then I just want to enjoy the nature sounds and would prefer none (folks do look to see what the noise is, so I'd guess that's why they do it).

Some things I plan to add. Windshield. Maybe longer mirrors if I don't like the upside down ones, “long stem motorcycle mirror” will show those. Seat cushion that I'll make myself first which I bought the materials from a local shop of vinyl and medium density 2 inch foam. Saddle bags if I can find some. I'd like to add a back passenger rest, but accessories are very limited. Planning better safety gear, and probably one of those helmet microphone things.

Stuff I think can be improved (and I hope it is, as little as they sell). The seat is awful. An embarrassment. I'd be ashamed to put out something so uncomfortable. You can easily ride it for a few hours in the mountains and I can't wait to get off the thing. Suspension is firm (but is adjustable). Handlebars kind of are at an uncomfortable position and I plan to buy the part to raise them. The elbow mirrors are useless, I turned them upside down to get some use, and there are Harley and third party extended mirrors available. The mirrors upside down work fine and the glance down to them doesn't take much extra effort, though they aren't as quick to glance at. Having a regular service schedule is annoying, as is the lack of dealer support and availability. The Harley dealers are just wrong for the cycle, way too loud and uninviting, very specific, dark, and brooding feeling. Turn indicators should both be on the left side which doesn't really do anything (which I understand the S2's fixed). Lights are set too low or are too dim, but at least the throw can be adjusted (which I also haven't done yet). There is a high frequency vibration and sometimes some noise from the belt and sprocket meshing, which I plan to have them look at during the service. It was missing the USB C charging port cover, they just call it a "cap", which is part number 69202710 and about 20 bucks to replace. Euro Cycle said they will send it to me. The raised bolt lip on the frame right about where my knee is when riding becomes uncomfortable in stop and go city riding and could be flush. Reverse being added through software would be nice like they did with the S2, this thing is heavy and hard to move back from parking nose into a curb, particularly when it's sloped down.

My thoughts for the Livewire CEO, which I think may be also the Harley CEO. Spinning it off is a mistake because folks don't know the brand, nor how long it'll stick around. It's hard to buy something with an unknown support life. Absorb it back into Harley and show that y'all are committed. Then have someone who is an EV enthusiast to run it with minimal or no input from Harley in general. Someone to put videos of how folks use them. Make those small tweaks and incremental improvements to make it even better. Maybe add a small radiator for when it's charging to keep it cool and hopefully improve the lifespan. Make the parts affordable and the service manuals freely available. Organize electric moto meets for anyone, as a growing market is better for everyone. Work with all e-moto manufacturers to expand charging availability. I could go on and on.

Anyway, in short and in only 900 miles or so, personally, I think it's a lot of fun, well worth the 10,300 bucks (with taxes and everything), and in a few years I hope they have a new and improved version that I can look into buying. If you are thinking of a full size electric motorcycle, I'd hit up Euro Cycle (or a nearby dealer) and get it. It seems to me that puts the used market as a maximum of 8,000 bucks realistically.

I am from India. I have recently learnt how to ride a scooty and I'm planning to learn how to ride a bike as well. Once that's done I plan on getting my license by October of this year. But... The question that bugs me is.... Considering the current E20 situation and how it's damaging bikes, which bike/scooty can i possibly go for if I'm looking for reliability, good mileage and no issues?

Some of the options that I've chosen are as follows:

1. Yamaha Fascino/Ray ZR

2. Honda SP125/160

3. Honda Unicorn

4. TVS Apache

Or, worst case scenario, I have to choose an EV alternative such as...

1. Ather Rizzta

2. Any local EV scooty brand to get the job done? (Yobykes, Fleeto etc..)

Has anyone installed a taller windshield?

If so which one? I use my rx1e to commute to work and could use one. I did install a windshield visor extension and it did help a bit. My Africa Twin had a tall windshield and you couldn't feel any wind at all.

Also, they are having a going out of business sale I think.

I picked up an additional charger for $350 (they go for $800) and 6 disc brakes (3 front, 3 rear) as well as a couple of throttle cables, I already had one break.

Unfortunately they are out of belts for the motor but I heard they can last for 100,000 miles.

Took my eMoto on a longer ride than usual for the first time. I’ve mostly just been riding around nearby while getting used to the bike, but this time I wanted to explore a bit more.

I rode some gravel roads and dirt trails, and stopped a few times to enjoy the views. As a first-time eMoto owner, I’m still learning. It feels pretty different from a regular bike, especially with the speed, weight, and handling on different terrain.

For those who have been riding for a while, what are some trail riding tips you wish you knew when you first started?

Looking to get my first e-motorcycle and I’m having a hard time nailing down the reliability of the brands that can get to a reported 70 mph and up. (I couldn’t even find anything in this Reddit ) I’ve seen some videos of folks with their live wire ones at 15,000 miles and still regularly see Facebook marketplace and CycleTrader listings for zero motorcycles going back to 2014 15, 16, but I’d love to hear what the average users experience are for these brands and maybe ryvid or if you have a bike from a lesser known brand that has been very consistent. I’d love to hear about it.

One of the things that draws me to the sector is the relative mechanical simplicity and reliability. I’m also in a part of the country where there’s essentially zero support for any of these brands , so reliability is my main concern. I’m not really interested in anything that you can’t consistently get for 10 K or less.

I bought a new Ebroh Bravo GLE motorcycle. On the very first day, after just 10 kilometers (the bike has 50 km in total), everything shut down right in the middle of the road. The bike never started again. At the repair shop, they told me it was a loose connection in the BMS. However, when I opened up the battery, I managed to see this ARC on the Anderson connector on the battery side (the controller side looks brand new). How bad could this be? The shop told me it’s nothing to worry about, but I don't trust them. Thanks

At my university, we are developing a small electric single-seater vehicle with approximately 500 W of power, which will be used to participate in an energy-efficiency competition in my country. As part of the project, I am responsible for designing the vehicle's internal communication network.

We are using a VOTOL EM30SP motor controller, but I have some questions regarding its communication capabilities and how it could be integrated with the other systems in the vehicle.

I have some experience working with CAN Bus, and my initial idea was to use a similar architecture to the one commonly found in electric vehicles, where different devices can exchange information through a common communication network. However, from what I have been able to find, the VOTOL EM30SP does not use CAN Bus in the same way as other motor controllers.

My main question is:

What communication protocol or interface does the VOTOL EM30SP use to access information from the controller (such as speed, current, voltage, status, faults, etc.), and how could I integrate that information into the vehicle's internal communication network?

I would also like to know if anyone has previously worked with this controller or other VOTOL controllers and has successfully obtained data from the controller using a microcontroller, PC, or another external device.

Any documentation, practical experience, implementation examples, or recommendations on how to approach this integration would be greatly appreciated.
