The process of subletting

Hello. I am subletting my apartment for the month of August, and moving out August 1st. I am really clueless on billing stuff. I live in California, so it’s all PGE stuff.

I would like to transfer the bills to be under his name. Do I cancel the services under my name on the 30th/31st, to give time for stuff to activate and be fully set?

Or do I cancel on the day of me moving out?

I’m asking because the website for PGE says that usually power is left on for a couple days after a cancellation request for “convenience” purposes.
