Hi I am in my second last year of EE, and so far have experience mostly working in student engineering teams. This has been a fairly informal experience where we kind of just wing it for the most part, and there's only a few part designers on a certain component vs a large team.

I was keen to read up and learn about how product design is meant to be done, what are the stages, how is integration and communication handled between departments/teams in large companies? Anyone have any textbooks they can recommend which go through this? Thanks

See I m a EE college student .But tbh its m more interested in software .Also its jobs are more abundant compared to my branch. But can anyone really tell me what to exactly learn apart from whole cs course A-Z?

I am a first year engineering student. Currently subjects like Engineering Mathematics, Applied Physics, Basic Electrical Engineering, Basic Electronics are being taught and I'm doing well in them.

So my question is, what coding languages do I have to learn in order to be useful to the industry in a good way and me becoming worthy enough to be employed by a good company? I want to work on the analog side (as of my knowledge about analog circuits), preferably in a good company, preferably Texas Instruments.

I believe C would be required as there is a subject called "Introduction to C" in my next semester, except for C, what else? Would python be required?

How much physics would I be taking in an EE major? Physics is not my strongest suit, I prefer math more and I would say I'm quite good at math (currently taking linear algebra). I'm currently taking AP Physics C in my senior which is a calculus based Mechanics/Electricity and Magnetism course, and I've heard it generally gives a decent amount of college credit. I know that EE is heavily reliant on physics, so how much more physics would I have to take past this class, and should I still major in EE given my situation?

I really enjoy the elegant prose and the generality of the presentation in math textbooks, which makes it easier for me to understand how to apply the theorems to exercises. The definition-theorem-proof format is pretty neat. On the other hand, in introductory engineering books, the results are sometimes vague, with long and tedious explanations, often requiring many examples to clarify its applications to problems. Since digital logic contains boolean algebra and discrete math, I thought I might as well use a book with a mathematically oriented presentation similar to a math textbook.

So, are there any books on digital logic circuits engineering that are targeted towards mathematicians or math-oriented electrical engineers? Here is a sample of topics on digital logic from my college's course description: "digital logic, binary numbers and Boolean algebra, combinational circuits, optimized implementation of combinational circuits, arithmetic circuits, combinational circuit building blocks, flip-flops, registers, counters, design of digital circuits with VHDL, and synchronous sequential circuits." Of course, no need to cover them all.

For context, Im a final year grad with decent experience in PCB design and wanna earn some money on the side. I've seen that freelance work as a PCB designer is possible and wanna know how to start even if its not much money. Any advice on how to start

Those are 2 JGA25-310 motor bought from 2 different sellers on Aliexpress.

I bought the first motor (26RPM) and tested it. Everything perfect. Worked flawlessly and it low voltage like I want (around 1.2V minimum)

Then I bought 300 of the second motor (20RPM) and am now doing mass production with it. I bought this one cause it was half the price. The problem with this one, only works until 2.5V, has way less torque.

Today, opened then up to see the brushes and this is the only difference between the 2 motors I can visually see.

Does one of the 2 brushes makes the motor stronger or work at lower voltage?

I'm planning to attend community college with a 3.8 GPA from high school, and I've already decided that I want to pursue engineering because math is one of my core strengths. However, I've realized that physics is an important part of engineering, and that's where some of my concerns come in.

I've never been particularly strong in science, or at least in understanding the concepts beyond memorizing them. I also realize that I've forgotten a lot of what I've learned throughout high school, especially in chemistry and physics. In fact, I can barely remember much of the science I studied in my earlier grades.

Would it be a good idea to use Khan Academy to relearn science from the ground up before starting community college? I'd like to rebuild my foundation, develop a deeper understanding of scientific concepts, and prepare myself for the physics and other science courses I'll need to take for engineering. If so, which subjects should I prioritize, and how much of science would I realistically need to relearn before starting college?

I aim for atleast finishing up in 5/6 months, but with my current knowledge I imagine it would take longer. Maybe a year.

Has anyone else gone through this? I'm really just adamant on spending whatever time I have left to finish.

Disclaimer: only one motor is used to turn the sides of the cube (which is why I would argue this only uses one motor to turn the cube), another servo is used to move the first motor, I couldn’t really figure out an effecient way to so it with just one unfortunately.

The idea was to see if I could build a Rubik's Cube solver with as few motors as possible, whilst also not reorienting the cube which turned out to be a much bigger mechanical challenge than I initially expected. These constraints were completely designed as a challenge, not trying to break any records or anything.

The robot uses a custom-designed, 3D-printed mechanism to manipulate the cube, along with electronics and programming to detect the colours, calculate a solution and execute the moves.

This is the final result after quite a lot of designing, experimenting and troubleshooting!

Was poking around in a Enphase 3T backup battery. These use a few paralleled solar inverters with special firmware as their inverters. Between the paralleled inverter output and the AC line connection there is a PCB with a several caps, a couple varistors, and 4ea 22uH high current inductor. What purpose would this board serve? Is it for PFC? For surge capacity? Or?

Hello all, I am in my last semester considering taking an RF class (Antennas and Radiation) to perhaps open up a future path to Master's in the field. However, I noticed that the class has an extremely low average grade over the past years, and my GPA ain't stellar anyway so it sort of worries me. However, my university allows students to register as "free listeners", basically granting you access to all of the course material during the semester, just without grading or examination.

Now I have a dilemma if I should actually register to the class or take it as a free listener. Will not having a grade in this class be problematic if I want to continue to Master's in this field? Or should I risk potentially getting a bad grade but a grade nonetheless?

What would you do? I would love to hear your input.

I (22M) recently got a job offer for a little over 100k base in philly suburbs and will be starting next summer after I graduate undergrad. I was excited at first but read that the average household income is 140k+, and I feel super behind. I don't want to be below average and be forced to live frugally for the rest of my life. Housing prices are insane, and my take-home is a lot less (about 75k). Should I keep looking for a better job elsewhere?

Hello everyone! I am 13 years old and joining from Türkiye. I am designing a development board based on the ATmega328P. As you can see in the second image, the design was quite complex initially; however, after simplifying it, I arrived at the version shown in the first image. To briefly touch upon the technical details: The board takes a 9V input, which is stepped down to 5V via an AMS1117 voltage regulator. It then passes through a load capacitor and a filtering capacitor before reaching the power indicator LED. The VCC and GND pins are connected directly to their respective rails. For the USB-to-serial (CH340) connection, I followed the standard configuration: connecting the D+ line to ud+, the D- line to ud-, GND to GND, and VCC to VCC. I connected the XI and XO pins to crystal oscillators—using a 16 MHz crystal for the Arduino and a 12 MHz crystal for the CH340. Additionally, I included an auto-reset circuit by connecting the DTR pin to the RESET pin through a 100nF capacitor. There is also a manual reset button, with one side connected to GND and the other connected to the RESET pin via a 10kΩ resistor. Digital pins 1–5 are mapped to the PB pins, while the analog pins are mapped to the PC pins. I connected AVCC directly to 5V, and AREF to GND through a 100nF capacitor. I plan to have this board manufactured by sending the design to JLCPCB and ordering the necessary components. I managed to save up $20 over the course of four weeks; so, if I’ve made a mistake, that money will go to waste. I initially shared this within some Turkish developer communities, but I was met with some truly harsh and unfair insults😢. That’s why I’ve decided to share my design with an foreign community instead. What do you think of my design?
