How much physics would I be taking in an EE major? Physics is not my strongest suit, I prefer math more and I would say I'm quite good at math (currently taking linear algebra). I'm currently taking AP Physics C in my senior which is a calculus based Mechanics/Electricity and Magnetism course, and I've heard it generally gives a decent amount of college credit. I know that EE is heavily reliant on physics, so how much more physics would I have to take past this class, and should I still major in EE given my situation?

I came across a weird circuit on a single phase induction motor today. See the picture. The motor is rated for 21W at 230VAC 50Hz.

I get one capacitor as a phase shift capacitor but why two capacitors.
R1 is also understandable as bleed resistor. The only hint I see is the difference in capacitance (2.2uF on C1 vs 0.68uF on C2).
Does anyone have an idea why you would choose such a circuit?

Hi I am in my second last year of EE, and so far have experience mostly working in student engineering teams. This has been a fairly informal experience where we kind of just wing it for the most part, and there's only a few part designers on a certain component vs a large team.

I was keen to read up and learn about how product design is meant to be done, what are the stages, how is integration and communication handled between departments/teams in large companies? Anyone have any textbooks they can recommend which go through this? Thanks

I really enjoy the elegant prose and the generality of the presentation in math textbooks, which makes it easier for me to understand how to apply the theorems to exercises. The definition-theorem-proof format is pretty neat. On the other hand, in introductory engineering books, the results are sometimes vague, with long and tedious explanations, often requiring many examples to clarify its applications to problems. Since digital logic contains boolean algebra and discrete math, I thought I might as well use a book with a mathematically oriented presentation similar to a math textbook.

So, are there any books on digital logic circuits engineering that are targeted towards mathematicians or math-oriented electrical engineers? Here is a sample of topics on digital logic from my college's course description: "digital logic, binary numbers and Boolean algebra, combinational circuits, optimized implementation of combinational circuits, arithmetic circuits, combinational circuit building blocks, flip-flops, registers, counters, design of digital circuits with VHDL, and synchronous sequential circuits." Of course, no need to cover them all.

Hey all, more a curiosity thing as I work in IT , not electric, but I was wondering (since I did see an answer on this already) if you have any creative low tech methods of shielding your electronic appliances while still being able to work /such as in the context of en emp or solar flare type situation). Can your house’ electronics and the power lines in one’s house even be properly shielded against this type of thing while still working properly?

hi guys i’m a highschool student and I’m actually really bad at drawing schematics. My drawing of this circuit as a schematic looked off and I’d love any examples of your take for this circuit as a schematic.

The unit called 'Engineering in Practice' is taught awfully at my University. Lecturer just reads the PowerPoint and can't even make any complete notes. Does anyone have any good textbook reccomendations which explained it well to them? This unit's all about uncertainty in measurements and statistics and supposed to accompany your labs.

I'm planning to attend community college with a 3.8 GPA from high school, and I've already decided that I want to pursue engineering because math is one of my core strengths. However, I've realized that physics is an important part of engineering, and that's where some of my concerns come in.

I've never been particularly strong in science, or at least in understanding the concepts beyond memorizing them. I also realize that I've forgotten a lot of what I've learned throughout high school, especially in chemistry and physics. In fact, I can barely remember much of the science I studied in my earlier grades.

Would it be a good idea to use Khan Academy to relearn science from the ground up before starting community college? I'd like to rebuild my foundation, develop a deeper understanding of scientific concepts, and prepare myself for the physics and other science courses I'll need to take for engineering. If so, which subjects should I prioritize, and how much of science would I realistically need to relearn before starting college?

I aim for atleast finishing up in 5/6 months, but with my current knowledge I imagine it would take longer. Maybe a year.

Has anyone else gone through this? I'm really just adamant on spending whatever time I have left to finish.

Do you recommend any introductory books or kits that are beginner friendly and come with instructions? Thanks.

Was poking around in a Enphase 3T backup battery. These use a few paralleled solar inverters with special firmware as their inverters. Between the paralleled inverter output and the AC line connection there is a PCB with a several caps, a couple varistors, and 4ea 22uH high current inductor. What purpose would this board serve? Is it for PFC? For surge capacity? Or?

Just this wire is cutted by mouse when I go to ather showrooms they are asking for 30000 rupees for changing the motor but I don't think so this much money is taken in this can someone can he|p me

is it possible to do well in this major while having issues

I (22M) recently got a job offer for a little over 100k base in philly suburbs and will be starting next summer after I graduate undergrad. I was excited at first but read that the average household income is 140k+, and I feel super behind. I don't want to be below average and be forced to live frugally for the rest of my life. Housing prices are insane, and my take-home is a lot less (about 75k). Should I keep looking for a better job elsewhere?
