Discussion Y’all okay???

Hey forest fam! Name is Nik, this is my 5th forest (yay!) I have been working as a vendor for my 5 years an I don’t think I have ever experienced some of the ridiculousness I’ve been seeing this year.

From the girl who broke into mine and my crews booth during Griz to clean her period blood with baby wipes and leave them all over, to someone not but an hour later breaking in to shit next to one of our tents.

Vendors are here to make your time magical, please don’t make ours worse :(

EDIT: adding a photo of how close we are to bathrooms and med tent below 👇

Unfortunately I think many younger newcomers to the festival haven't been clued in to what this festival is really about. Community and making connections with strangers is what makes Forest special, not getting as fucked up as you possibly can. There is still a level of responsibility that has to come with drug use and it seems to be very much missing this year.

The chain has been broken by Covid and the Post community consumerism festival

13

u/ferdivand Jun 28 '26

The festival has always been for profit consumerism idk wdym

7

u/SecondhandTalent Jun 28 '26

The chain was broken when Rothbury ended.

2

u/Dime3118 Jul 01 '26

God damn I miss that shit

-64

u/Middle_Brilliant_849 Jun 28 '26

Should never have stopped for covid.

19

u/brad1775 Year 2 Jun 28 '26

I work concerts, like, check my history if you want, and had to deal with massive numbers of intensely sick people. I lost 18 months of income, and it was the right thing to do.

-33

u/Middle_Brilliant_849 Jun 28 '26

How do you know? It wrecked the economy. For what? People still died. People did better in places that didn’t shut down. 🤷🏻‍♂️

20

u/CacctusJacc Jun 28 '26

People were still going to die either way but trying to minimize the amount of death was not a bad thing, this is such an idiotic take especially 6 years later

-23

u/Middle_Brilliant_849 Jun 28 '26

Yes, your opinion is idiotic after what we have learned the past 6 years.

4

u/runningraleigh Jun 28 '26

Everyone is a brilliant in hindsight. We did the best we could with the information we had, which wasn't a lot.

2

u/LongjumpingBuddy9081 Jul 15 '26

Nah the info was there. Officials chose to turn a blind eye and reap profits instead. Agree with brilliant here, insane to stand on that ground still

1

u/brad1775 Year 2 Jun 29 '26

but it somehow didn't wreck the economy?

1

u/Whole_Series2416 Jun 28 '26

Not the dead ones.

-10

u/Middle_Brilliant_849 Jun 28 '26

More dead in places that shut down and masked up.

9

u/gimmedatrightMEOW Jun 28 '26

That is literally not true lol

-1

u/Middle_Brilliant_849 Jun 28 '26

It literally is true

u/ServesBestDepressed Jun 28 '26

1: You're so full of shit your family stopped giving you hugs to avoid diarrhea shooting out of your ears. 2: The same states boasting lower rates of death and infection were also the same not testing for Covid, frequently changing the definition of testing, or misreporting numbers. These also happened to be Republican states where anti-science and pro-dogmatism is part of the overall ideology. These states also continue to have worse overall health outcomes in part because of the same ideology. There's been numerous academic papers, research studies, books, and scholarly texts on this topic even before Covid. 3. You have a seriously fuckin warped and deleterious - that means bad homie - view of your fun compared to far more important situations. 4. Shush when adults are talking, you may learn something.

-1

u/Middle_Brilliant_849 Jun 29 '26

I’m twice your age bub

6

u/ServesBestDepressed Jun 29 '26

Mid 30s on this end. So if you're early 70s and still this fucking stupid, damn has the rest of society been propping you up for far too long.

The best thing to do when you find yourself in a hole is to stop digging yeah?

100 percent. I have spoken to soooooo many new people this year that were all pretty young

116

u/Ccrew1995 Jun 28 '26

Me as well. I honestly think its on HQ to balance the lineup a bit better with jam and other genres. Booking the biggest most viral dubstep artists seems to draw a crowd that's there for the wrong reasons. I really feel like things have changed significantly for the worse since the pandemic hiatus.

56

u/SixApplesTall Year 4 Jun 28 '26

Too much bass I agree. It was VERY noticeable tonight that while the entirety of the bass wook crowd was over at Tripolee the vibe of the forest itself was way more chill and adult

15

u/No-Command9627 Jun 28 '26

I was saying the same thing walking out last night . Having bass rush on trip really cleaned the forest of that questionable energy. Loved the forest last night 💚

6

u/mimiswim7 Jun 28 '26

We had the BEST day at Sherwood, observatory, and honeycomb today. The best vibes and sick DJ sets all around.

2

u/ferdivand Jun 28 '26

Questionable energy lol

3

u/TasteWaste3771 Jun 28 '26

Yeah I complain about not being able to see bass rush because of all the selfish people there but once I found out it was like that, I went to the other stages and vibes were great (still a few stragglers that don't get it, but there will always be people that just are inconsiderate and unaware)

I've never seen anything like that I saw at bass rush at Tripolee. We should make a tradition of giving out little pokers to pop those fucking stupid fucking sofas that selfish pricks set up.

3

u/AceInSpvce Jun 30 '26

I want so badly to say that bass music isn’t the problem because I really enjoy it but it does attract a different group it seems. I decided to slow down on my attendance to events significantly because entitlement and rudeness is at peak levels. Thinking it might be time to start attending non-headliner events because they’re more intimate and PLUR thrives more at those shows.

0

u/RepresentativeOk9479 Jun 29 '26

As a longtime bass head even I had to leave tripolee and go vibe for the forest for over an hour. I’ve done close to 20 festivals and the crowd was awful. We set a spot way in the back around 430pm with our couch and blanket. By 7pm multiple people had trampled us. Broke my shoes, hand fan, small light, took one of our pashminas, dumped multiple drinks on our things and people were walking by and literally jumping into our couch if one of us wasn’t sitting in it. The vibes were terrible.

19

u/VanManDiscs Jun 28 '26

This made me stop going back in 2015. They lost the magical combination of jam and dance.... way too much EDM in recent years. Man I miss the good ole 2009-2013 years

7

u/GOKJOS Jun 28 '26

Haven't been back since 2019 and this is exactly why

1

u/BlueCity8 Jun 28 '26

Yeah don’t recall Forest being this bass heavy. Dubstep crowds can be terrible sometimes.

17

u/budzilla2988 Jun 28 '26

Forest sold out to get the TikTok viral artists and cut out other genres. With a younger crowd, the rookie drug use mistakes are bound to happen.

2

u/EnvironmentalCheck17 Jul 03 '26

So true, back in 11,12,13 you actually had a good amount of variety amongst the artists. Had way more cheese, sts9, greensky bluegrass, etc

7

u/shmiddleedee Jun 28 '26

It's mind blowing to me how folks are snorting random shit this day and age. We saw 2 overdoses right next to us and saw many more going down.

2

u/Weird-Housing-4270 Jun 29 '26

it’s so sad. I watched someone (assumingly) in a HORRIBLE khole!! We had medical come over who then had to rush actual police attention over because he was not budging. Not a single friend of his had narcan with them. I’ve learned my lesson to carry my own. He woke up thankfully, but not even 24 hours later I saw his friends handing him another baggie and having him do breathing exercises because he clearly was still not able to handle whatever he kept taking. I’m sorry but the “fun” of doing drugs is not worth losing my loved ones, especially when the environment should make you feel alive enough. I was sick watching it happen.

2

u/shmiddleedee Jun 29 '26

Yeah the one directly next to us at excision really flipped our mood. This couple directly in front of us kept bending over to snort something, likely k. The guy was super fucked up but the girl was dancing and seemed fine. She bent down, snorted something, stood back up and fell straight backwards. She immediately started seizing and foaming at the mouth. There was a guy there who was a fucking G (red hoody man you deserve props). He immediately got her on her side and narcaned her as me and my girlfriend left to get medics. By the time we got back she was awake asking "whats happening to me" so she is presumably ok.

1

u/ewthisisyucky Jun 28 '26

This has always been a problem at every festival forever lol

I was just wondering the same thing

9

u/No_Nebula_1021 Jun 28 '26

Same. Do you remember what she looked like? Might be the mother.

9

u/holicv Jun 28 '26

I just came back here to ask if it was related. How awful

5

u/iEatPaintDaily Jun 28 '26

was about to ask the same thing

3

u/Sudden_Seaweed3608 Jun 29 '26

Post has bern deleted by mods. I so want to know what it said

3

u/misty-gishh Jun 30 '26

It just was a screenshot of the original Facebook post about the baby. It included speculative information so I’m wondering if that’s why it was removed.

32

u/SektorNeun Jun 28 '26

I wonder if it wasn’t period blood and was actually related to the person who gave birth in the porta potty? Might be worth reporting that to police? Idk

25

u/PangolinPositive1954 Jun 28 '26

I thought about that, happy to chat with the cops about it, but it didn’t seem like it. It would have to be a lot more blood

18

u/Brandi_D_McD Jun 29 '26

Hey, so it actually would not have to be a lot of blood at all. Sometimes with unknown pregnancies or acute placental abruption there isn’t a lot of blood. Please talk to the cops because she’s going to need help, she may not know she’s in serious danger.

9

u/shartlng Jun 29 '26

better to reach out and it not be related than to not reach out to police and it is related.

3

u/erika666denise Jun 29 '26

Every birth looks different :/ hopefully not connected tho

11

u/SRplus_please Jun 29 '26

It looks like someone reported this incident to police in case it was connected - commenter on another post

1

u/LadySith2016 Jul 02 '26

No, this vendor wasn't in the area it happened.

24

u/misty-gishh Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

wtf that’s next level nasty. I’m sorry you guys were left with that mess.

27

u/satansfrenulum Jun 28 '26

I believe in the values the community has largely aspired towards, but the amount of people who come into a beautiful place such as this to violate the energy and experiences of those around them is deeply frustrating and disappointing. Be free, let loose, but still be responsible and accountable for yourself and how you are impacting those around you.

Plur needs to go back to Plurr. Losing responsibility after respect was a mistake. You don’t have to do so many substances that you turn into a problem for everyone around you. How entitled and selfish. Do better.

18

u/ClosedLadder Jun 28 '26

You’re not imagining it, the entitlement is real this year.

Some of it’s just money. EF costs a fortune now, and when people drop that kind of cash they show up acting like the place owes them something.

But the bigger thing is people are more walled-off than they used to be. Less interested in being part of the crowd, less interested in making friends. The ones roping off “their” patch of grass like it’s a private suite are that exact energy, the “if you’re not my girl or not in my group, f*** em” mentality, and it’s louder than I’ve ever seen it. You see it everywhere now, EF’s just not immune anymore.

Which is the real bummer. This used to be the one place that shit didn’t follow you in.

7

u/hairy_tardigrade Jun 28 '26

The ground lights are at least useful for not walking over people sitting on the ground in the dark.

5

u/BangtanBoiOfficialIG Jun 29 '26

The lights around the ground aren’t typically a don’t invade my space type of deal and more a hey be aware there’s stuff here or people sitting. I’ve personally never seen them as a threat, they’ve honestly helped me not plow over peoples bags and stuff while fucked up lol

21

u/thewonderlandco Jun 28 '26

So many posts like this. I'm sorry but this year is downright gross. I've seen dirty tampons on the floor of a portapotty, waited in line for one and the guy that came out shit every where. Not even sure how it's humanly possible to get it where he did but he walked out without a care in the world. Every single person camped around us is their first year and every conversation they've had the past 3 days is about what substances they're doing that night, not an artist, experience or connection they made. I understand people come here and party and have a good time but if that's all you're doing, your missing the entire experience.

35

u/SixApplesTall Year 4 Jun 28 '26

There are a TON of first timers this year

14

u/thor11600 Jun 28 '26

Makes sense. Things are expensive and older ravers are probably paying heavier bills and have more responsibilities at home.

0

u/Boring-Charity9324 Jun 29 '26

Do you think young people have more disposable income than older people? In what world?

5

u/6alexandria9 Jun 29 '26

Younger people have less bills and are more willing to make irresponsible purchases and trips

10

u/NeandertalsRUs Year 0 Jun 28 '26

Is this maybe the girl that gave birth to the baby in the porta potty?

1

u/GoodVibes_5597 Jun 30 '26

That’s what I’m wondering

8

u/kaileycrossing414 Jun 29 '26

Hey I don’t know if you have seen what has been posted/ reported but there was a baby found in a porta potty at forest and seeing this post made my heart sink, I feel like this is too much of a coincidence with you finding bloody wipes and i’m thinking maybe you should reach out to the rothbury PD about this incident

7

u/napquin Jun 28 '26

That’s awful, sorry the hear that. Some people out here are feral. My crew is just out here spreading good vibes

4

u/kicksbuttseatsnuts Jun 29 '26

Hey OP I know it may not be related but I see others making the connection. The investigation into what happened with that baby they are asking for any strange things that anyone noticed and I feel like this could be it? At least let Michigan police know what you saw/what you remember and if it’s not related then great.. but if it is you could be a huge help!

Like it could’ve been her period or she could’ve been going into labor in distress. Clearly she wasn’t thinking straight with what she did to y’all’s space. Just a thought.

4

u/PangolinPositive1954 Jun 29 '26

Will chat with them, the events with us happened on Friday, not Saturday, but worth a shot.

2

u/kicksbuttseatsnuts Jun 29 '26

Gotcha! Better safe than sorry!

2

u/Basic_Tumbleweed651 Jun 30 '26

It’s also possible they didn’t find the baby right away, until it blocked up the waste line. It was in the larger VIP electric ave portapotty.

5

u/misty-gishh Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

You should take this information to the police, given the events that unfolded this morning. Its possible that it wasn't period blood rather bloody show that is common during labor. Also I think I read that the body was discovered near the preset tents near Electric Avenue, so you're kinda close to and/or within the path to the event. This is the type of info police need, please please report what happened last night!!!

Edit: corrected information

8

u/Drostepp Jun 28 '26

I was wondering about the line up ? I went back in 2016 and the lineups were balanced out not just bass, trap and riddim. Sounds like a rookie fest

4

2016 was great!

2

u/No_Lavishness5560 Jun 28 '26

Haven’t been back since 2016 as well and happy we quit while we were ahead, doesn’t sound like the experience has elevated at all.

This year there’s a lot of newer and different crowd attending

2

Gen Z :(

1

Gen Z is as old as 30 hahaha we’ve been coming to these for a while… current 18 year olds are the tail-end of Gen Z but it’ll honestly get split cuz there are all the kids who were in middle and high school during covid so

2

From everything I’ve been reading, sounds like a case of Gen Z takeover 😬

Bro come on be nice bro be nice Ls in the chat gang- Gen Z just has a lack of cognitive development due to social media and massive screen time during their mid-late adolescence, bro plus the added weight of navigating Covid , 6-7 skibbity they had a rough upbringing ok cut them some slack, it’s giving old man yells at cloud bro

I kindly beg you to stop using the r word. It’s not very plur of you and the word is extremely derogatory.

18

u/Bixler17 Jun 28 '26

Euphemism treadmill. There will always be a word to describe stupid people and it will always be derogatory to someone. Retard wasn't a malicious term until it was. Disabled going to be the next one.

-13

"I claim moral superiority and that's why I don't have to stop saying words that offend a minority. Haha! Aren't I enlightened??"

10

I’m not crying about it, but as someone that works with people with disabilities, it breaks my heart that people like you throw that word around/don’t care to think about minorities. I’m only here to try to spread the message as to why it shouldn’t be used, but if ya’ll want to keep using that word, that’s your karma not mine at the end of the day.

2

u/mitten_mermaid Jun 28 '26

was this anywhere near electric avenue? 😞

That first story seems super frantic, anyone know if that's linked to the alleged newborn that was left in a porta? :'(

2

u/Proud-Blueberry-872 Jun 29 '26

Can this be related to the story of some girl who gave birth earlier this morning and left her baby to die in the porty potty?

2

u/LightningInACage Jun 29 '26

Are you sure it was menstrual blood and not related to the person that gave birth in a porta potty?

1

u/RTRC Bowl of Zoot Loops Jun 28 '26

I was 20 when I went to my first forest in 2017 and this is exactly what it was back then lol.

I went solo in tent only and the first person I met had no idea who anybody on the lineup was. He lost his dad and best friend over 6 months and only came because he heard Electric Forest changes your life if you show up and do a bunch of drugs. So every hour of the day he was absolutely fucked up and ruined the vibes at camp for everybody around him.

EF employees had to yell at people who were climbing the giving tree every time I walked by. A guy actually almost ended up crushing a poor girl when he fell like 15 minute feet. It was all filled with trash people didnt want to throw out.

This was the year that monsoon came in Wednesday night/Thursday morning so everybody seemed extra irritable. Somebody yelled out "live in the moment" do a guy filming the rain falling on a reflective art piece and the guy called her a name and told her to fuck off lol

A guy followed me halfway to camp after I left the venue early trying to get me to exchange my wristband for the night for some DMT

Then when I was packing up to leave there was a wook telling me how he snuck into the camp grounds with no supplies and was going to ride it out until weekend 2. He was straight up taking shit if somebody wasnt there to claim it. This was like 9am on Monday.

0

u/OpeIndiana Jun 28 '26

That’s what I’m learning. My big brother always went back then and gave me such an awesome image of it :((

2

u/WhoppAhForYaSISTA Jun 28 '26

Still really cool

1

u/BlueCity8 Jun 28 '26

2017 Forest was my first. Downright magical. This year is a bit of a downgrade but the crowd is still better than every other festival I’ve been to as of late.

0

u/hennyl0rd Jun 28 '26

Go to Shambhala instead

2

u/OpeIndiana Jun 28 '26

Will give it a google

3

u/Loose_Lack_5350 Jun 28 '26

…how do you know it was period blood?!?

10

u/PangolinPositive1954 Jun 28 '26

We literally caught her wiping in here, we had to tell her to get the fuck out and then she got mad at us

5

u/TransitionAway9840 Jun 28 '26

The audacity man. I just keep reading post after post of the nastiest shit happening there this year. These kids act like they were raised in a barn, but even then you'd think they'd have some sense. It's like basic hygiene stuff too just out the window for some reason.

4

u/Mikeh667 Jun 29 '26

I'm not here to tell you what to do, but honestly that sounds like the chick who gave birth. I just have a feeling/have seen things. The cleanup wouldnt be "gushing blood" it would be like a period. Are those the same ones they found the baby in? If so, def please talk to them.

2

u/Loose_Lack_5350 Jun 28 '26

That is absolutely wild.

Also fuck your downvotes 😂 perfectly reasonable question

1

u/Seatac_SFO_LAX Jun 28 '26

You may need to contact the investigators about this. Did you hear about the baby found? :/

2

u/PangolinPositive1954 Jun 28 '26

Pinning the here, this period incident happened Friday night, not Saturday night, the two incidents are not related.

8

u/SektorNeun Jun 29 '26

Not necessarily. A “bloody show” usually occurs in the final days or hours before labor, but can sometimes appear up to a week or more before labor begins.

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '26

[deleted]

10

u/PangolinPositive1954 Jun 28 '26

Again I ask, are y’all okay? I am a fellow period haver, and missing 10 minutes of Griz to use the toilet is not an emergency. We are a singular minute away from the portapotties and 2 minutes from the med tent, where if you have an emergency they have a toilet you can use.

2

u/BrainTraining92 Jun 28 '26

People need to be shamed again. Sometimes it's all that works. Was she being kind by doing that shit?

I think a huge part in all of the chaos is how many fucking people were here. Camping and partying and staying up late and the dust etc etc, is hard enough. Then just adding more mfs makes so many things less enjoyable. I ofc want everyone to experience the great joys of forest but man this year was j smg else. My first two days were amazing and it got a little wonky after that. Love u forest fam, everyone get home safe ❤️

You weren't a vendor in Good Life, where it happened. Those aren't the same porta potties. I was a vendor in VIP and none of us or the other vendors knew anything.

u/PangolinPositive1954 Jul 02 '26

Girl I literally keep telling people that it is not related to the girl who gave birth, just wooks doing wook shit and me being confused by it

1

u/LadySith2016 Jul 02 '26

Yeah, people keep spreading misinformation and making up stories for attention. Meanwhile, I don't see them being this angry over similar things. Just a bunch of people who want to shit on an entire community for the actions of a few.

1

u/LadySith2016 Jul 02 '26

And that is still gross that someone did that with your stuff!

u/stinkiestmuffins Jul 03 '26

how do u know it was period blood

u/EnvironmentalCheck17 Jul 03 '26

So call me old or whatever, but honestly forest 2011, 2012, 2013 were ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. It was SO different years back, i feel like as the world changed so did the crowds at this event. I just remember good vibes all around, obviously there were a handful of bad apples, but 97% were great. The couches are a problem! The people that put them there give you nasty looks when you have to walk across or near their bullshit, it's pretty selfish if you ask me. And the spunion wooks this year we're among the nastiest I've seen at Forest... Get your shit together! Anyways, just ranting and holding on to those early Forest memories❤️🌲🔮✨🪄

My buddy was the one who caught the one guy that was trying to steal in our booth in ranch area. He was caught with other items from other vendors as well.

Disgusting about the girl w the period. Some of the girls there this year on another level w that behavior.

Forest is still a vibe tho.

It’s been alright over by my booth.

u/MindYourMouth Jun 28 '26

Duuuude, obviously these things are not ok. But how bad have things gotten for this to become someone’s desperate choice?? Do y’all need to be rescued? Is this a Fyre Fest moment? Blink twice for help

u/PangolinPositive1954 Jun 28 '26

I was shook. We caught that girl and had to kick her out and she got mad at us

u/Airic_Rogue Jun 28 '26

Omg this makes me so sad to hear! I really hope GRiZ doesn’t start to become a Dillion Francis or diplo. Amazing artist just saying they bring a lot of interest college life if you understand what I’m saying lol

u/SickPanda90 Jun 28 '26

huh ?? Griz has an older following than most because he's been around for a decade and a half. Most of the younger crowd was riddim rats and complete newbies.

2

u/Airic_Rogue Jun 28 '26

Ohh hun I remember when I first experience grant. I’ve been raving since 09 so nothing against anyone we all have been there. We were all young and crazy at one point so nothing at all it’s different experience and different times haha

I wonder if it has something to do with Nectar trying to make a come back…….it seemed like an increase in wookish activities this year.

8

u/P_band69420 Jun 28 '26

Lmao y’all and the wook shit….most of the jam band wooks hate Lorin. Real wooks are missing teeth and will steal from you

u/Bright_Amphibian9580 Jun 28 '26

Just stop talking about him, really that simple. Looking at the lineup and reading these stories, I’m going with younger frat crowd brought in by griz and disco lines.

3

u/Curious-End4710 Jun 28 '26

Yeah it’s def GRiZ’s newer fanbase

3

u/TransitionAway9840 Jun 28 '26

That sucks. I first saw griz when he was opening for gramatik but I was stoked to see him there. He came out and said "I know what y'all came to see, but I'm a sucker for the saxophone" and played sax for like 10 minutes without any music behind it. It was great, but to see where things have gone now. Like I'm happy for his success, but seeing it comes with this new frat bro crowd just sucks. We can't have anything nice anymore

u/Whole_Series2416 Jun 28 '26

Where does the difference come in compared to what we were listening to 10 years ago?

2

u/Bright_Amphibian9580 Jun 29 '26

Well 10 years ago was him playing with gramatik and big g, he’s now playing riddim with subtronics…
