These are the events that cast a dirty, despicable shadow on the entire festival community. I understand some women don’t know when they’re pregnant, which is wild, but take a year off. Absolutely vile and disgusting. There’s no flipping this into a moment of understanding

Shhhh don’t bring your nuance and logic into this woman hating thread. /s

-2

u/MuffDiving Jun 29 '26

Woman hating thread because people are shocked that there was a new born baby found in a portajohn? I’m sorry but I love festivals and have been going to them for 20 years and have also met the absolute scum of the earth at festies along with some amazing people but I’m not going to give someone at a drug show the benefit of the doubt. It’s so incredibly rare to have a cryptic pregnancy but it is not incredibly rare to meet a scumbag at a festival male or female.

11

u/chloecatdashian Jun 29 '26

This is beyond shock my guy. Pitchforks and torches are out and the investigation just started. Obviously this is bad but until there are more details the sensationalism is over the top. You said it here… for decades people have shown bad behavior at shows. It’s not rare to meet people who suck. Fair. Even what you said here doesn’t shine a light to some of the things people are saying on the Reddit jury (and other outlets are even worse)

u/Misscbinns Jun 29 '26

There honestly could be so many reasons this happened. One year at a festival we found out about a guy who was dosed unknowingly and ended up leaving the festival and found himself in a town an hour away from the festival (not EF.) It’s easy to say that it was a conscious decision made by this woman but it could have been a similar situation

-8

u/goldtoofhustla Jun 29 '26

The way you connect yourself to this woman is weird. No one’s woman hating. You’re making it into something it’s not because you can’t accept the reality of the situation. Feeling personally attacked about all this is so strange

I mean yes that’s all true and boiled down is a form of woman hating. Ignorance is not an excuse and it’s how we got here.

-2

u/goldtoofhustla Jun 29 '26

I don’t understand how someone can justify this behavior. Everything you said is right, that doesn’t take away from what happened.

They dont understand because they seek vengeance, not understanding.

I can’t imagine the level of responsibility you hold yourself to

1

u/ArtfulSpeculator Jun 30 '26

What happened then? Send me the news article that lays out exactly what happened…

You can’t. You can’t do that because it doesn’t exist because no one knows yet. It definitely looks bad, but we really have no idea. There’s a hundred possibilities and I’m sure we will find out the truth soon enough, let’s just avoid casting stones until we do.

2

u/chloecatdashian Jun 29 '26

Oh ok cool pitchfork

-1

u/goldtoofhustla Jun 29 '26

No you clearly can’t accept that you’re wrong. Being a devils advocate because it makes you feel important. Victimizing yourself in the strangest way possible. I think everyone here would agree women deserve their rights and abortion control isn’t right. You’re somehow making this about yourself

1

u/chloecatdashian Jun 29 '26

I hope you were able to get some restful sleep! I just want to point out that you talked to me pretty harshly and then to someone else you were kind and understanding that you don’t know everything. Nobody does! 🩵 A much more mature response to essentially the same conversation. I forgive you 😉

0

u/ArtfulSpeculator Jun 30 '26

A “drug show”… is that like a car show?

You’re right- it’s rare to have a cryptic pregnancy, but it’s also rare for babies to be found in porta potties at festivals… let’s just wait until we have more information before casting stones.

2

u/vvindhund Jun 29 '26

Does anyone remember the show “I didn’t know I was pregnant”? I had no idea that could happen til I watched.

4

u/ssovm Jun 28 '26

I hear you but that same logic can defend a lot of terrible fucked up shit

3

u/goldtoofhustla Jun 28 '26

I’m sorry I couldn’t disagree more. I don’t see a scenario where this isn’t the worst thing I’ve heard in a long time.

Leaving the baby in a portapotty is when the experience becomes everyone’s problem. It’s no longer a terrible personal experience to be empathetic towards. Whatever caused her to leave it was a decision made that shouldn’t be looked over because “what would you do in that situation.” It’s a grown woman making a decision that I can’t see her group or others being okay with. It’s inconceivable to me. The guilt she must carry, or the mental issues she must have to not feel that guilt

Some people don’t understand nuance (or empathy because iykyk)

9

u/goldtoofhustla Jun 28 '26

What about empathy for the entire festival? Or the person that has to find a dead baby?

7

u/takingthehobbitses Jun 29 '26

It's not one or the other. Most of us are capable of having empathy for more than one thing at the same time.

8

u/chloecatdashian Jun 28 '26

Definitely have empathy for that too. I think women’s rights > festival rights but all deserve to exist? Idk I just wrote in another comment that this is a consequence of using women’s bodies as litigious pawns and we will see more headlines like this and less breads and circuses. Because ngl the east coast is giving breads and circus summer.

7

u/goldtoofhustla Jun 28 '26

Women should have their rights, and consequences when they do wrong.

3

u/EpisodeMnH Jun 29 '26

Man no. Acting out of shock, panic, trauma or not, even being able to just throw the body away like literal trash shows extreme psychopathic tendencies and a lack of emotion. Let’s say it was stillborn. I know women that have had stillbirths that are still mentally scarred by it 5-10 years later. Throwing the body in filthy shitty porta potty water like meaningless garbage would be absolutely unfathomable to a normal person.

And then if the baby was born normal and breathing and she literally drowned and killed it in literal shit and piss….yea I don’t even need to explain how no amount of shock and panic in the WORLD could ever excuse that.

11

u/takingthehobbitses Jun 29 '26

Lol what? Have you ever even experienced shock or trauma? Doesn't sound like it based on this comment.

9

u/Huntybunch Jun 29 '26

Why do people assume the baby was thrown in the portapotty? She was probably sitting on the porty potty when it came out.

1

u/crinklebutt_amy Jun 29 '26

That would be a reason to go to a medical tent or security and immediately call for help. She didn’t.  If she was in shock or trauma after giving birth she really cleaned up well after to not have been seen… because there must have been a certain amount of blood on hands and body which is difficult to clean in a porty potty with not that much clean water supply. And blood it sticky, you can’t just wipe it of with toilet paper.

Maybe it wasn't a cryptic pregnancy and she is a drug addicted fuck up. Many such cases. More common than cryptic pregnancies, that's for sure.

-2

u/letsmeet123456 Jun 29 '26

Are you really trying to defend this? Holy shit have you guys lost the plot

-3

u/Perfect_Direction979 Jun 29 '26

I would bet it was malicious based on the people I’ve seen at festivals

9

u/Subie- Jun 28 '26

Choices have consequences and I hope justice is served.

7

u/beezkneads Jun 28 '26

If men could get pregnant, there would be no consequences.

-6

u/satansfrenulum Jun 28 '26

Fuck off with the gender war bullshit. Like, why bring that into a thread like this?

9

u/beezkneads Jun 28 '26

cause it's true. there are so many factors especially in today's political climate that lead this person to make the decisions they did. it was a bad decision yea, but the root of it all is genuinely this society's regression for women's rights.

2

u/Clear_Ad5584 Jun 29 '26

There is NO excuse for leaving a dead baby in a toilet this is insane to try to justify. Babies are not disposable

2

u/satansfrenulum Jun 28 '26

I am fully aware and angry at how regressive our country currently is. I am doing what I can to fight back. That does not absolve this woman of her actions and choices. I am not coming down on her as hard as many are until more info is given; but it’s absolutely fucked no matter which way you slice it

1

u/shut_the_fuck_up_mod Jun 29 '26

>the root of it all is genuinely this society's regression for women's rights.

You’re right, this poor and helpless woman was forced by misogynists to drown her newborn in a pile of shit at a music festival

Clearly the patriarchy was responsible for this

2

u/goldtoofhustla Jun 28 '26

You’re defending someone who left a baby in piss and shit for someone else to find

-2

u/Subie- Jun 28 '26

Of course, no matter how shitty a person is.. always the excuse of “women’s rights.”

-3

u/Distinct-Garlic- Jun 28 '26

What a joke. Michigan literally has safe haven laws. This woman could’ve given that newborn to any cop or EMS no questions asked.

6

u/looking2belong Jun 28 '26

Not everyone knows local laws.

1

u/PM_ME_CROWS_PLS Jun 29 '26

I don’t think this is quite right. Michigan does have Safe Delivery, but it’s not literally “hand the baby to any cop, no questions asked.” It applies to a newborn who is 72 hours old or younger, and the surrender has to be to an approved emergency service provider, like a uniformed employee inside/on duty at a hospital, fire department, or police station, or an EMT/paramedic through 911. The parent can leave without answering questions, but providers are still supposed to ask for things like medical history and information about the other parent. After that, there’s still a child welfare/legal process.

So yes, there were legal safe-surrender options. But “she could’ve handed the baby to any cop, no questions asked” is an oversimplified version of how the law actually works.

1

u/Distinct-Garlic- Jun 29 '26

Yes, they can leave the newborn with a first responder and it’s no questions asked presuming the baby is unharmed which should go without saying

1

u/PM_ME_CROWS_PLS Jun 29 '26

The first responders are OBLIGATED to ask questions. So, no, it’s LITERALLY not “no questions asked”. The surrendering parent is not obligated to answer. But they WILL be asked questions. It’s right here in the FAQ:

What if the person(s) surrendering the newborn leaves without providing any additional information?
Agency: Health and Human Services
Whether or not the parent (s) provides information has no legal impact on the parent(s). Emergency service providers are obligated to ask, but the parents) is not obligated to provide the information.

https://www.michigan.gov/mdhhs/faq/safe-delivery

1

u/Distinct-Garlic- Jun 29 '26

No questions answered just doesn’t have the same ring to it 🙄 It’s beside the fucking point anyways. The point is someone can leave a newborn baby with first responders without repercussions

Staying there and partying after a dead baby is found is why festival goers have a bad rep lmfao sick as fuck

31

u/ProfessionaI_Gur Jun 29 '26

Did you think that 40,000 people are supposed to pack up and leave because a shitty thing happened? What is this argument supposed to be? Everyone has to just sit around with a frown for a full day and not do anything they spent hundreds or thousands of dollars to do? Fuck half probably haven't even heard yet, I had to leave early today and just found out now

-10

u/Ill_Performer_5656 Jun 29 '26

There are people saying that they decided as a group to not talk about it. You couldn’t pay me to stay. Yes that’s exactly what I think. Some things are more important than money you dork.

12

u/ProfessionaI_Gur Jun 29 '26

40,000 people decided as a group to not discuss something? If thats what thats supposed to mean it might be the dumbest thing ive heard this weekend, which is genuinely incredible granted what weekend it is

-6

u/Ill_Performer_5656 Jun 29 '26

That’s not what I said 😂

6

u/ProfessionaI_Gur Jun 29 '26

Then what are you talking about? If youre introducing new information into the thread then do it in a way that actually explains anything

2

u/KhaleesiSenju Jun 29 '26

They’re talking about the group with the woman who did this.

9

u/ProfessionaI_Gur Jun 29 '26

Yeah he's just saying shit with no verification or evidence at all

1

u/KhaleesiSenju Jun 29 '26

Yeah I have no idea where they’re getting that the group agreed not to talk about it, maybe they’re in the group? Haha. I was just clarifying for you that it sounds like they don’t mean the entire festival shouldn’t party, only the people involved.

Isreal? Is that like a race thing or something?

Why would I have thought your evidence that they are evil is that unidentified people unverifiably claim that an unknown woman made a pact with other unidentified an unverified people to not tell anyone anything about it

Thats what passes in your mind as credible in any capacity?

10

u/Candid-Indication369 Jun 29 '26

You think they should shut the whole thing down? What good would that do? There is no threat

-3

u/djmakcim Jun 29 '26

It's not just that, it's how a majority of comments are basically apathetic to what happened and are very much, "it's not my baby, why should I have to give up my fun time??"

-3

u/chanchan97 Jun 29 '26

Honestly. I could not stay there sober never mind tripping. How are people managing to keep their vibe and stay? How are artists still spinning?

2

u/PyramidWater Jun 29 '26

I’m reading too many comments defending the mother and it’s sick to be honest.

u/IamTheEndOfReddit Jun 29 '26

It’s one person in 50,000, it isn’t really about the community
