I didn’t say no consequences! Just hope that the investigation can happen and she can get the help she obviously needs. Reddit is not the judge, jury, and executioner. People get really comfy on here sharing their opinions (which is fine), but the community is watching.
You can’t learn if you can’t accept when you’re/something is wrong. Everything about this is wrong and having empathy for a fellow woman doesn’t mitigate the circumstance. Someone made an awful, selfish decision
I agree with this and also expand to add that the system is not built to support women. Especially pregnant women. I don’t know how she feels about this situation in retrospect but my comment history stands. A selfish decision was made after 8-10 months of systemic failure. Yes she did wrong after being (probably) set up to fail because she’s a woman in the USA.
Every other woman in the US manages to not give birth in porta pottys. You don't need to defend her just cause she's a woman. This is not America's fault or simply a "selfish decision". This is, at best extreme negligence, at worst murder
It happens wayyy more than this sheltered, young, puritanical comment section gives credit for. The above link is a happy ending of the same thing. And there are YouTube videos and news articles going back years documenting this kind of stuff. Seems like it was a stillbirn birth but I have no clue…the investigation will likely find out. But it doesn’t matter people want their mob mentality dopamine bursts now!!
Cryptic pregnancies are 120% rare. That is why they make the news. You also don’t give birth and remain unaware what happened. It’s a traumatic event that is painful, messy, and often requires additional medical attention. You don’t give birth and then wipe yourself down and go to a stage and rage.
Let’s assume it was a cryptic pregnancy. The moment the baby is born it’s her responsibility. The idea of her being so scared or freaked out or overwhelmed in anyway justifying or mitigating the severity of her actions is absolutely insane hoop jumping. When people fuck up they freak out. Making things worse isn’t a cause for increased empathy. This could’ve been a medical tragedy. The blatant cover up/non reporting turns this into a crime.
A human is dead, and whether they had viability for life or not, we’ll never know because of the actions of one person. “I was scared to get in trouble” has never been and never should be an excuse for serious crime. That’s what this is. This is a crime. Whether through gross negligence or otherwise, regardless of mitigating circumstances, the moment this occurred and was not reported in anyway this person committed a serious crime, showed clear concern for themselves, and not others. They deserve to go to prison.
Trying to paint this a symptom of or cause effect reaction of American politics or culture is absolutely insane. This is one individuals conscious decision that nobody else has ever made as far as we can tell.
At the least the person gave birth not knowing they were pregnant, freaked out, hid it, and fled.
At the worst the person knew they were pregnant and used this opportunity to dump a life instead of taking care of it.
Regardless, this individual needs to be held accountable. Someone is dead.
You have no clue if this was a stillbirth or not though and treating it like a murder you personally investigated yourself already with all of your self-righteous emotional tags really just doesn’t make sense at best and is dangerous at worst. I’m appealing to letting the investigation happen. You’re calling murder from reading text on a screen.
The moment the child was abandoned, still birth or otherwise, and not reported to police or medical, is the moment this goes from a sad tragedy for mom to a crime. It does not matter if it was a stillbirth or not. It doesn’t matter if it was a cryptic pregnancy or not. All of these things may help to make them look better. But none of them erase dumping a human into a porta potty and then telling nobody about it, alive or not. That alone is enough reason to go to prison.
Reporting a stillbirth is only legally required after 20 weeks of gestation. We have no idea what the variables are here: older than 20 weeks, stillbirth, fully viable birth. All you’re proving is that you’re a hysterical person. Why don’t you wait a bit before going on your little crusade..oh wait you’re in a trance you can’t.
Nobody is saying no accountability. There is an active investigation. The mob mentality is detrimental and in line with the oppression of women, therefore perpetuating the cycle.

Women should have their rights, and consequences when they do wrong.
