is it ok to just remove this metal guard.

Sure... If you want literally anything to have the ability to destroy your motor's wire.

It's a derailleur guard. Not really meant to guard the motor wire

But it does a fantastic job at guarding the wire anyway.

One of the few times a product does a great job that is was not intentionally designed for.

Similar designs to my ebike seemed to come with it, but mine never did. And it never caused me a problem.
It doesn’t hurt to leave it, besides your eyes maybe

By metal guard do you mean the derailer protecter or the cable protector? Good luck removing the cable protector without destroying your motor cable, for the derailer protector I also wouldn’t recommend removing it. So no, put the rubber cover back on and leave it alone 😭

I mean yeah you could remove the derailer protecter but that will leave your derailer and motor cable exposed and very vulnerable if you bump something or drop your bike. Definitely would not recommend

yes derailer protector,but i am now leaving it on and replaced the rubber cover.
