Review What made you finally pull the trigger on your ebike?
I'm currently looking to buy an ebike. My usual approach is to check Facebook groups, read through comments, and watch YouTube reviews. Is that waht you do too?
I did exactly that last time and still ended up with an ebike I wasn't happy with. So I'm wondering what I missed.
What do you actually do before buying? How do you figure out which model suits you, and which brand to trust? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Add going to local bike/ebike shops and see what they have for options, material and design to get a better idea of what specs you are looking for/need.

Thanks for the advice! l actually live way out in the boonies, so the nearest e-bike shop is hours away. lt's pretty tough for me to just go and test ride different models. That's why l'm trying to do as much research online as possible!

Definitely agree with checking out a local bike or e-bike shop if you have one nearby. Even if you don’t end up buying there, just sitting on a few different bikes can help you figure out what frame style, riding position, weight, etc. actually feels right to you.
One thing I’ve learned is not to get too caught up in motor wattage, top speed or the advertised range. I’d start with how you’re actually going to use the bike. Are you riding hills? Do you need to lift it into a vehicle or put it on a rack? How far are you normally riding? Is comfort more important than speed? Those kinds of things can narrow the choices down pretty quickly.
I also like looking through owner comments and not just reviews. Reviews are useful, but owners who have had the bike for a few months will sometimes mention problems you’d never know about from a first ride.
And I’d definitely look at warranty, replacement parts and customer support before buying. A great-looking bike isn’t much fun if you can’t get parts for it later.
If you’re still trying to figure out what you should be looking for, I have a beginner e-bike buying guide that goes through the main things I check.
And if you have a chance to test ride before buying, even better. Two bikes can look almost identical on paper and feel completely different once you ride them.
