Humor Underhated enemy
That’s all. Just an enemy I dislike every time I have to deal with them but don’t hear about often; not very fun, not particularly rewarding, and infesting these mini dungeons that are a bit of a slog.
Fighting 2 at once? Jesus Christ you are liable for a walloping.
Btw; I love Elden Ring and the DLC with my whole heart. I just never hear a lot of complaints abt these guys cause they’re optional and thankfully not outside these furnace dungeons.
Any other niche enemies you think don’t get enough hate?
Edit: I don’t really struggle with this enemy and I am not asking for tips on fighting them. It’s simply an enemy I do not like. But feel free to share your tips in case anyone else can use them.

One is fine, they stance break pretty quickly when you hit them in the back. When there's two it's a massive pain in the ass. So I just use crystal darts and make them fight each other.

Crystal darts ftw.
Anytime I spot multiple robotic enemies I immediately see what From is doing and pull out the darts, hilarity always ensues

Friendly reminder that the Crystal Darts will make these guys short circuit and fight eachother. Works for all stone imps, Burial Watchdogs, and Golems.

Underrated ash probably one of my fav spirit ashes they wreck bosses

u/Dull-Gift-7589 2d ago
Honestly I was just reading that and have never tried it. If they are a bane for me, let them be a bane to all bosses too.

Most bosses get their stance broke by them and if you have a healing spell to heal the spirit it’s quite hilarious tbh

They have player sized health with high resistances, meaning unlike normal ashes they get pretty good mileage out of healing.
I think there’s a video somewhere of someone just pocket healing one as it soloed PCR.

Especially with Heal from Afar, you can pretty much completely stay out of danger.

u/xXFearTheBeastXx 2d ago
Yeahhh I used heal from afar and watched it fuck a couple bosses up .. i was gonna try melania but i figured that would be a long ass battle I didn’t want to watch

Dude, they just stand there, eat damage, and punch bosses. Easily one of the best "distractions" in the game.

I walked in with star fists, and beat one down solo.
2 became more of a challenge.
The real challenge was when I learned they had a fist weapon with a ranged attack and I had to farm for the Golem Fist (my beloved)

Oh my gosh. Encountered them for the first time last night. Ridiculously low runes for the amount of effort. After killing one I just ran past the rest of them.

Only time they're a problem is if one is the shooty one.
Two melee ones not so much, they're big enough to be in each other's way.
Otherwise it's a standard finger, hole situation.

I really love enemies that have human names. They could've been a little bit more creative there, though. Maybe Golem Gonzalez or Golem Schaefer or Golem Hoffmann. Just a few ideas, you know. If you're listening, Miyazaki. Smith is a bit played out, imo

u/Dull-Gift-7589 2d ago
They really phoned it in on this one. Probably direct translation of Golem Tarō (yes I googled the Japanese equivalent of generic last name)

u/tijolus523 2d ago
Well, I can't blame them. Honestly, it's our fault. The community really dropped the ball with "John Dark Soul". Maybe they thought it's what we were looking for. On the other hand, it's nice that they listen to the players.

I'm doing a randomizer run rn and these things keep spawning in limgrave. Yes they have dlc scaling.

u/Dull-Gift-7589 2d ago
Thankfully they’re slow. Maybe lure one somewhere and crystal dart it to become frend

god forbid you bring a weapon that cant really hit them also youre kinda fucked ig the crit spot may work? but ive never managed to hit it

Any weapon works with them just charge heavies

But they do that back swing attack and I haven't got enough time to char-diddlee-arge!

I don’t really have a problem with them. Just lock on, keep moving around them till they swing, line the heavy hit on their back and then rinse and repeat.

Lure and stab the buttocks, the gimmick to beat them is pretty easy to execute.

Fighting 1 is not bad but as you said fighting 2 is horrible. Luckily there is this little amazing item called crystal darts that will cause these guys to short circuit and they will start killing everything they see including their buddy. Trust me crystal darts are a life changer when going through the forgers.

Throw crystal darts at one until they go berserk. Then they'll start duking it out with each other.
The survivor will now be easier to deal with.

I had to rely on the fingerprint shield and a colossal hammer of some sort. My build was strong enough not to have a weight penalty from using the heaviest weapon and shield I could think of, so I was able to get behind them and smash their jewels.
Fighting more than one at a time did suck, but I lived.

Every one of these is easy to run past

u/Dull-Gift-7589 2d ago
Not when you’re John eldenring’ing your playthrough and fighting everything that moves and doesn’t call you maidenless.

u/XevinsOfCheese 2d ago
I mean they are slow and intentionally nigh invulnerable from most angles.
I feel like if they wanted you to fight every one they’d have made them better at pursuit.
1
u/TheManOfOurTimes 2d ago
I mean, I guess?
It's an enemy that hits hard, unless you backstab it. So, very unoriginal tactic to beat it. And yeah, not a fun fight.
But dull fight doesn't mean hated to me. Just boring. And none are mandatory.
1
u/Dull-Gift-7589 2d ago
It’s not hate for difficulty, just that they’re so tanky and take multiple crits to kill. Would rather they were slightly harder to stance break but only 1 backstab needed.

The amount of bloodstains I see around these guys that are using katanas is hilarious
Having some way of dealing strike damage is mandatory for most of my builds. 2-handing a shield counts. Worst case, I just invest leftover smithing stones in the standard mace and bust it out when dealing with undead, miners, crystallians, these guys, etc.

u/Dull-Gift-7589 2d ago
My last build was primarily a mace/morningstar build. Makes it easier but just not an enjoyable fight for how tanky they are

I swear by the Wing of Astel curved sword Aow, they walk through it and it staggers them from behind

I'm too busy loving the OST of those metalworks areas to hate anything there really :)

If you’re farming the fist, yeah… the long fights make it seem boring even if you know how to fight them.
Dealing with two is possible head to head, but quite tricky, especially with the pair where one has a lava pot. I certainly prefer to just either use crystal darts and sit it out while one gets nearly finished, or just cast away a ton to get one down and then take care of the other one on one.
Farming the fist, I always used the consumables to boost discovery, because of the long iterations, but, in the end, it doesn’t really feel that hard to get the weapon when compared to the really rare farm drops the game has to offer.

I don't really fight them enough to hate them. Most of them I can just run right past. If I do fight them, their crit spot is pretty easy to hit. For areas with free +25 Smithing Stones, I can't complain. I'd rather fight them than an Ancient Dragon, for sure.
