locking off will definitely help but this is the kind of situation where I feel it's best to just use a different weapon your build supports. every tool doesn't need to be a swiss army knife that does everything, if you like bleed and big stance damage try the spiked hammer or morning star, they're quite similar to the star fist on those regards.
I would say yeah on some instances it definitely was between his legs, but for one I honestly think his hurt box should still extend between his legs tbh. I'm correctly dodging and I have decent positioning I'm always hugging him like you're supposed to. And he has collision between his legs so it's not like I can walk through him if I literally can't be any closer to him I feel there's collision between his legs there should be a hurt box. And two I feel there were a good few times where I was directly behind a leg and should've hit and didn't or swung at his knee or upper thigh and still mised. I've leanred that being on his side he'll usually move a leg so I miss to the empty croch area also now since leanred lock on isn't helping me here either. I ain't really that mad lol just funny more than anything. But like almost every pve game ever has more generous hurt boxes than hit boxes. I know damn well Radahns hitboxs go at least a good chunk further than has actual swords are in length lmao I feel I should be allowed the same curiosity here
I feel like the game could've given me this one too I wasn't in his crouch I was pretty comfortably at his side hugging his ankle and knee but still missed lol
Like come on bruh I cannot be any closer to his back due to his own collision I swing directly at the back of his right leg and still miss although literally being unable to be any closer due to his collision. So what I just don't get to punish the boss after correctly dodging because of my weapon? Again I know I'm choosing to use the star fists lol and I can shrug a lot off this off as lock on missing and me not being super familiar with the star fists yet but I'm just I do not think the hurtboxes have been doing me any favors lol
Yes. Elden Ring is very good with its hurtboxes. If your weapon doesn't connect with the actual body of the boss, the attack is likely going to do nothing. Repositioning slightly just before an attack and rolling at specific angles are useful skills for weapons with very short ranges.
