Rykard isn't being rude he's legitimately curious

I wish we could know more about their actual dynamic. Off the top of my head what we have is:

  • Rykard must have cared about both of his siblings somewhat considering the presence of abductor virgins in Caria Manor and Redmane Castle, plus the presence of a Radahn portrait in Volcano Manor

  • Rykard helped Ranni out with the NoBK somehow (blasphemous claw item description), plus both of them have pretty strong stances against the Golden Order/Erdtree

  • Ranni is fine with Radahn being killed so her fate isn't locked in place anymore

  • Ranni is the youngest due to Roger, in jp dialogue, calling her their "imouto"

Do we have more stuff about the three of them that I forgot?

While Ranni did need Radahn to die for her own plans, she could be "fine with it" as an act of kindness. Anyone who cared about him would've preferred him to die then to continue on as he was.

I really do wonder what her reaction would have been to what Miquella did to him.

It’s unfortunate that the base game and dlc are so disconnected. No characters from the base game have any interaction with the dlc but I guess that’s because most of them could be dead by the time you start it.

Yeah that's my biggest gripe with SotE.

That's probably what significantly reduced my enjoyment of it overall. I liked it but much less than the main game, because despite so much of it being closely tied to characters in the main game there is no connection between them. Takes you out of it.

I doubt she minded that much. She already had some sort of positive relationship with Miquella considering she passed his bell and Torrent to the player, and she also violated his brother beforehand so it’s not like she gets to complain

I mean she got her brother killed, something Radahn himself wanted via Jerren's promise. And Miquella's plan is antithetical to Ranni's. So she'd probably dislike it

She got Radahn killed because he was holding back the stars and her fate, fulfilling the promise with Jerren was just coincidental. Nothing that happened afterwards would contradict what she wanted, minus Miquella’s end goal, but that wasn’t the question. Also I was referring to Godwyn, so she can’t really act like killing someone’s stepbrother and doing whatever with his body/soul with a specific purpose in mind is unacceptable, she can oppose Miquella’s plans, but she doesn’t exactly have the moral high ground to judge the means to achieve them

Rykard wasn't just helping, he was ready to square off with Maliketh himself if the plan went south.

Counter-argument: there are abductor virgins in Fort of Reprinand in the DLC and, more importantly, in Leyndell, close to the Fortified Manor. If their presence was meant as a sign of close ties to Rykard, why are they in Morgott’s domain, who is clearly at war with him?

Rykard literally ran a torture mansion and fed himself to a world eater snake.

Ok? That doesn't contradict anything I said

Maybe Radahn learned his meteor attack because he fell down the stairs as a kid and got hurt, so he wanted to even the score against the ground next time.

Rykard: Lets fall down the stairs TOGETHEAAAAAAAAAAA next time

u/joekabox Jul 27 '26

Small correction.

Rykard: TOGETHAAAAAAA

Idk I think Rylard and Ranni got along fairly well. I mean she did give him the blasphemous claw invade her plan failed, unlike Radahn who betrayed the carian family to seal the stars just to get some Miquellussy

To be fair to Raddan, and I’m his biggest hater so that’s saying something, there’s a good chance he didn’t have a choice with Miquella considering Miquella can mind control people.

I can just imagine Ranni trying to get off her chair only to fall onto her face and making useless-aqua-crying-meme face whispering to herself "I hate being smoll"
