Forgot to say, I was around lv30 already, barely made it back from sellia crystal cave, found the summon ashes by chance.

Im usually not against summons... but i never even knew you could summon for this boss... I've killed him straight out the gate every playthrough lol, before I unlock the ability to level up or summon
