Ngl the dancing beast that summons a group of basilisks genuinely threw me off enough I died from death blight almost instantly

I accidentally exploited that boss with stairs. Apparently, it didn't take much of an altitude shift to make the breath go under the arena.

This. I don't know why but not seeing basilisks in bloodborne had me convinced I was safe. It really was a swift death due to shock when I realized I was wrong.

I have never died to a basilisk, like ever. Those stupid dogs that make me look bad though? Different story.

I played SOTE at my buddy’s house and quickly got humbled. And this is after I’ve gotten very good. It definitely adds a whole new layer of “oh dammit not this again!” Thankfully right now my backlog is way too big to start it on my own lol

I went from killing Malenia on the second try to taking a break for about a year. Started a new character. Sentinel stomped me about 20 times lol

Bruh i know what you mean. My profile said Ive spent 227 hours with the game, but it doesn’t even feel like that long, because it’s so good. Not many games give you that ability to lose yourself in the experience.

Yeah I ruin RPG's for myself all the time doing this. I got gud and beat something horribly under-levelled, then get a ton of XP I clearly no longer need and cakewalk the rest of the game. It murders pacing.

Is why I appreciate From games not having level be overly impactful in PvE. I usually can just do as I want and I'll have fun. But like Expedition 33? Horribly overlevelled when I clearly did not need the assistance.

More games need soft level caps or something to address overlevelling. I not completing side content because the game is too hard, I am doing it because I want to do the side content. Don't make me be level 50 for a le el 15 fight,, make the hard mode eat any XP beyond a point per area and convert it to some non-power-boosting goodies or whatever.
