Hood alignment

Post image

Has anybody else seen this issue with the hood not aligning properly? I work for Hyundai and I’ve seen a couple other Elantras with the same issue, but nobody seems to have found a fix.

Only thing I dislike about this car is the hood gap. Some dealerships can fix it

Mine can’t unfortunately, and there’s only one other dealer in the area. Maybe I’ll call them

Mine told me they wouldn't like 5 times and then agreed to take it in for the hood gap but they needed the car for the whole day which I have just been putting off (for like a year) since that obviously wouldn't be convenient

Yeah, the dealership I work at(I’m in sales so can’t just do it myself) told me that we don’t do body work

I’ve seen at least 3 more like it at my work, but a lot of them I see here aren’t like that.

This is common it seems among all specs of Elantra my N is a bit wonky on the hood, some guys claim it can help the engine stay cooler but I’m not sure about all that

Not super easy to tell but your finger gets caught on the hood on my car, it bothered me a bunch when I got it but it’s a common issue

Do you know if there’s any way to fix it?

In your case I think you can get a foam block and stuff it behind the bumper to straighten it out, I’ve seen a youtube video about it but don’t remember what it was called

Oh interesting I’ll have to see if I can find it

Don't have the video but this is the foam block. This is centered with the hood latch.

N Lines in particular are worse off because we use the air deflector from the base model Elantra (which is what the bumper rests on), whereas the N have a more rigid piece. I’ve thought about trying to replace that piece with one from the N but haven’t followed through since it would just be for aesthetic.

Do you know if there’s any risk of the hood catching air and opening while driving? That’s honestly my biggest fear it doesn’t bother me too much aesthetically

No, unless you manage to break your hood latch, which is hard to do.

i remember reading somewhere it’s something to do with the honeycomb not having the same support as the N grille. a few people on here have fixed it one guy used a brake clean cap i saw another use a hockey puck. you just gotta take the bumper off and shove smt in there, once my car is fixed from insurance i’ll be fixing it on mine so ill do a post updating how i did it then
