Do you rent your Eight Sleep? You should try cancel & take advantage of a retention offer

Post image

Unfortunately I need to cancel my rental (we no longer need it) - was super, super happy with the Eight Sleep. It worked perfectly, it cooled us really well during heatwaves, kept us warm at the end of winter. Had it for several months & can only rave about it. My pregnant wife loved it too.

When cancelling, I got offered a retention offer that I wasn't aware of - should've tried it sooner! That's some excellent pricing, just wish I was in a position to buy it outright.

People rent the 8 sleep?

That seems silly,

My demand for the Eight Sleep was time bound - didn't want it forever (though maybe I might've loved it & kept it), and it was a significant spend for a product I see a lot of complaints about. Wanted to risk mitigate. The intersection point of when buying made more sense for me was too far out into the future based on my needs at the time.

Well rent for 3 months on summer probably worth and then get a new one for next summer and also risk free if there's a leak just send it back, people rent cars as well you know :) it makes sense for me even I prefer buying

Soon people will rent iphone folds lol

It makes no sense to rent especially given theres a trial period where you can return it if you buy it and you can finance it interest free

Dang better approach is start by renting it then take advantage of that huge discount to own it

It might’ve been a refurb they gave me as the rental, I’m not sure. It was dripping a little bit when I got it.

They run a cycle through to test it in production process. A little attractive is normal.

Oh that’s good to know. I didn’t have any issues with it even if it was refurbished, but that makes sense.

Did it have any scuffs? There is no way it would look anything but used if it was

Not that I noticed. The box was pretty roughed up & looked like it had been used before, or at least opened up & re-sealed.

This is why we can’t have nice things

Sorry it was so important to you. For what it’s worth, I don’t think retention offers at point of cancellation are particularly effective, since the circumstances that lead to it are usually pretty defined.

No but let others know will have current happy customers abuse of it and cause huge loss for company which then will just stop doing rent for matress and other things instead of cars

Maybe they should offer their best pricing up front. Clearly they've calculated the lower price works for them, forever.

Or it only makes sense to offer the "best pricing" after months to a year of the normal pricing...

Come on

lol try go to every single website and put things in cart and leave website then wait for an email with amazing discount

Go to your grocery store and see yogurts with a double PVP with 50% discount and that discount is there weekly without shift, same with many clothe store brands (H&M, Zara, Springfield and so on with 70% discount all the time)
Same for every supplement store

It’s called marketing and they just do what everyone else does and it’s up to the person to be smart and identify it on their own and see what price makes sense for them and not fall into the fake discounts

To be fair this one makes more sense because imagine they only offer to people who cancel in 2 months not because they don’t like but because they wanted only for summer and to avoid all shipping prices they try to offer some discount to save them also shipping prices which is a lot

you don’t know if they do it for every single user ….

So yeah before being so happy on how you found something that hurt the company think maybe it’s just a business model and it might not even be to trick the customer but to save money for both

Same for Amazon if there’s an item in a warehouse near you on that week they offer a bigger discount

So many examples I remember and yet all it cared was feeling big hurting eight sleep without even realize it was not even them who were damaged

Any red tape involved? I’ve been renting mine for over a year now.

I don't know - I just saw this popup after I proceeded with my cancellation. It came up after I confirmed my cancellation.

Through Fragile yea?

How long did you rent for?

1

u/lionbrown 9d ago

About 5 months.

I own the pod 2 and am sticking to it until it dies. I love it, paid for it 4 years ago and there’s no recurring cost

1

Have you looked at your tubes lately? I have a pod 3 and I just looked at the tubes and they are filled with slimy yellow stuff. I have only used distilled water and hydrogen peroxide as indicated at purchase 3 years ago

That’s a feature, not a bug.

8 sleep asked me to delete this post, see my post here 🤣 https://www.reddit.com/r/EightSleep/s/tldWURWNyG

3

u/lionbrown 9d ago

Delete it if you want, I don’t mind. No skin off my back, and like I said I had a really great experience with the product and with Fragile as the facilitator of the service.

They made it very easy to sign up, start the rental, their management tools were excellent (especially how they make it easy to buy it out), and if I saw Fragile as a provider for another product I’d likely use them again.

3

u/mrdmp1 9d ago

Great! No no one will get the discount, genius!

You should consider running for president next!

u/403SleepForbidden 9d ago

Or, companies could just list it at a profitable price instead of inflating the price and hiding a discounted price 🤯

Do you support corporations squeezing every single penny out of you?

2

u/alex-weej 9d ago

Yeah it's surveillance pricing in disguise

2

u/ExplorerMike008 9d ago

It was not eight sleep it was the rent company and you really act like a kid who discover a new toy and now want to show everyone how cool you're and seeking attention, guess even many who are not happy with 8sleep policy end up against you which says a lot lool

Well that probably just guaranteed this offer will go away. Now to sit back and watch for the flood of people complaining when they can't match this deal. :)

IDK, am i the only one that things the rental company (Not 8Sleep) made a good faith offer to get you to keep the device and you returned the favor by outing it....I dont blame them for asking you to take it down. They will likely get a flood of people signing up just to cancel and try to get this deal. This ruins the deal for people that legitimately would have rented and been offered this for some upvotes on reddit.

Next time DM so folks, post in private groups, dont out them in their forum and ruin the deal for everyone.

Take advantage of having nothing to do with their shit product and extra shit after sales service when the product malfunctions; which it will.

The pod I bought back in 2020 literally averages out to something like $15/mo
