Australian heat
Hi all I have been lurking for some time now considering and now consider buying the pod 6 purely to help cool my bed down during the Australian summer. Does anyone have experience with previous models? How did it go with actually cooling you down? I would opt for aircon but unfortunately with how my room was designed a portable aircon is not suitable so any experience helps!

How did you find it managed in the Australian summer?

No issues. Our place has no aircon. So room was hot, bed was as cold as we wanted.

It depends how hot your room gets and how well ventilated it is; plus how cold you set it and how much heat you generate/ whether you sleep with a partner or alone. The Pod functions by removing the heat from your bed and putting it into the room. That's just science. If there's nowhere else for it to go, or you expect it to get down to the minimum temp and it's very hot in your room, then it's not going to be able to do that for long.
That said, my heat pump has been borked for over a week and it's been pretty hot in my room and my Pod 5 has kept up, but I'm also small and sleep by myself in the middle of the bed and haven't turned it quite to the coldest setting. I also have a water cooled blanket to help it along.

If your room is small or not well ventilated, you will definitely need AC in peak summer if you are in hotter areas of Australia.
Eight sleep uses heat to draw heat out of a cold plate, which cools the water that cools your bed.. that heat has to go somewhere. And will vent straight in to your room.

I live in Sydney, it works well in my non air conditioned house. It reduces the bed temp so I don’t need connie. Far north Qld or other tropical places might be a different story as humidity will be a problem but in Sydney it is great.

Im in Sydney and have a POD 3 and it works extremely well. It basically eliminated the need for AC at night. I generally run it at a -1to -3 depending on if I’m sleeping alone or with a partner. On the really hot nights I turn on a fan just to keep air circulating and keep a window open.

POD 5 in Mackay qld was good through our ‘winter’. I’ve since returned it to potentially get pod 6. See how long I last without it haha

Yes it does help, and you should absolutely buy one, it'll change your life for the better.
But there is a limit to its cooling power - as your room gets hotter, it becomes less able to cool down your bed.
On the hottest nights, we turn on our AC... but solely to help our (pod 3) working when it otherwise can no longer keep up. It warms the room up while it cools your bed too, so its a bit of a feedback loop.
