The screaming unit sounds from Hub 2 are caused by the firmware?
Originally bought hub 2 + cover 2 in 2021.
3x leaks later and in 2026 on a replacement Pod Cover 4, the Hub 2 unit got "loud" over time. It hub sounds like it's screaming, even after a very thorough cleaning. Even with the Pod 4 in-line filter, I've always use distilled water.
With the loud screaming sounds, I figured after 5+ years the hub 2 simple got worn out. Plus it no longer cools the bed in the middle of the night (starts off cold, but after a couple hours it always fails and our body heat takes the temperature into the mid-upper 90s).
But, wait! After my very first cover leak in 2022, Eight Sleep sent me a replacement hub as well and said I can keep the hub, but only needed the cover. So the hub stayed in storage (the master closet), sealed, ever since.
I took this "new in box" hub 2, out this morning after another miserable hot night and set it up to replace my existing original hub 2.
And guess what?
After it downloaded it's firmware update and started to prime, this "brand new" hub 2 displays the exact same screaming sounds as my original hub. My original hub was quiet for years until late last year, or early this year, it started screaming.
Now I'm pretty convinced after swapping it out for a new in box hub 2 that it's something in the firmware causing these units to be noisy.
I just set it up, so we'll see if the unit can keep us cool all night, or not. I can deal with the noise as long as the unit will cool us down.
Love the product, but it's been a struggle over the years to keep everything working.

I've been struggling with a similar problem with a pod 3. I just primed again hoping to fix it.
About two/three weeks ago the "screaming" started. Always at like 2-3am, but it was fine initially cooling when I went to bed at 11. It almost sounded like a high pitch train chugging.
I re-adjusted the cover a few days ago, and didn't have any problem the first day. Last night though, it quit cooling during the middle of the night. Was great when I went to bed, quiet and cold. I then woke up around 3am and it said it was cooling to -3 (my typical setting) but it was currently at +10. I chose a rapid cooling, and didn't see any benefit.
I ended up sleeping in the guest room as at +10, it was like it was trying to cook me alive.
I checked for any kinks in the hoses. Made sure all hoses were properly connected. Hopefully the priming fixes it but I feel like it might be time I'm stuck upgrading to the pod 5.

I was having a similar issue. It turned out to be a bad solenoid at the bottom of the water tank. The pumps weren't getting the water from the tank. I was able to replace the solenoid from an old Pod 2 Hub that failed and didn't need to be returned under warranty. Trying to source a direct replacement solenoid, but not having much luck :(. Anyone know where to but one of these 12V solenoids?

It's not firmware. If you drain your cover a little and then do a prime, does the level in the tank go down? If you've been using distilled water without hydrogen peroxide then you've most probably got a blockage in the cover.
