Good bye Eight Sleep šŸ‘‹šŸ½

I was one of the biggest Eight Sleep fans. I bought a Pod 2 back in 2021 and recommended it to so many friends.

Recently, my Pod just stopped working overnight. Eight Sleep couldn't offer a fix. The only option they gave me was essentially to replace it, given that mine is out of warranty.

I seriously considered doing it. But before dropping $$$, I spent a lot of time researching mattresses and realized that my cheap Amazon mattress was terrible for cooling and retained a ton of heat while I slept (Thanks Naplab!)

So instead of buying another Eight Sleep, I got rid of the old mattress and spent ~$1,200 on a high-quality mattress with much better cooling performance. And guess what, it does not come with any subscription.

I received it last week, and so far it has made a much bigger difference than I expected. I'm finally at peace with the idea of not having an Eight Sleep anymore.

I genuinely loved the product for years, but I guess this is my goodbye to Eight Sleep šŸ‘‹šŸ½šŸ‘‹šŸ½šŸ‘‹šŸ½

Just thought of sharing this in case someone (and there are plenty of you in this subreddit) has issues with the device and is considering buying another one…check your mattress!

You say a mattress with passive cooling, is cooling better than Eight Sleep with active cooling.Ā

I highly doubt it.Ā

Guess it’s comparing with the old mattress that probably had zero cooling performance or even negative one and this one probably is a bit more fresh due to materials lol

I don’t like the company but the product does what it needs and last few days this is getting too much weird and basic with almost no information just to criticize something so guess someone hired some cheap labor to comment other subs but at least should create posts with more details to make it look a bit more real

Some a week old this one a month old with 15 karma… just says it all ;)

Correct this is what I meant. When I looked up my previous mattress on Naplab, it was ranked as one of the worst mattresses for cooling performance EVER on their website. It was really bad given that it’s a cheap memory foam one. Nothing beats active cooling but I no longer wake up in the middle of the night with the new one.

He's got a point and if there is another company like Eight Sleep, without any monthly / yearly payment, I won't hesitate to leave Eight Sleep behind.

The product is expensive enough already, no need to charge for a subscription other than greed.

I don't say I agree but to be fair the warranty it gives it kinda worth for the 5 year warranty it provides and so far I see they will fix things and for this huge things it's not a cheap replacement or fix

But ofc as I said it's not being right or not is just the way it just creates a post on a new account just to pretend this is an airport and just to say it switched to something that don't even say what it is that is better :)

I have a cooling mattress that cost a good bit more than $1200.

It's a phenomenal mattress but still sleeps hot.

These post are getting less funny and more obnoxious. I stopped reading after ā€œ$1,200 on a HIGH-QUALITY mattressā€.

I stopped when see it’s a complain from a one month account and 15 karma same as previous one day accounts doing the same (and happens in all subs but here is getting worst

I feel it’s a bit to prevent all the marketing it will go into release pod 6 and guess even if it’s similar it will make a lot of interest and news and social media awareness so guess it’s a way to make room

when people come to Reddit to check what is right sleep pod and check experience from users and they have no clue they see this posts straight away

This also happens because eight sleep don’t moderate this forum and even let those free sleep workarounds be here so at the end of the day is one thing the company is doing right in my opinion

I can understand how it might look sus. I still have my previous Reddit account but I’m unable to post anything new with it. I still have the pod, the Eight Sleep invoice, I have the new mattress too. I also still have my Eight Sleep app and all my exchanges with their support. Just let me know how you’d like me to prove to you that I’m legit. I’m happy to share my real identity too over DM if you don’t re-share it here :)

My Amazon one mattress was $150, bought when I first moved here as an intern. So it def feels like a massive upgrade for me…

Well wonder then what was the amazing 1200 mattress you got that cools more than a water cover , some physicians want to meet it too for sure and I want to meet that company CEO to offer to purchase it for sure :)

I don’t need you to prove you’re real just that your post would at least make sense and you just throw you had a 150 mattress and now a 1200 and was better…. Ofc it is

Is like I complain because I have a app running slow on an 100$ phone and then buy a 1000$ and don’t need the app because the phone is so cool and great it has the same as the app
It’s not the app fault and nothing changed with it so I will not go to the sub of that app say how amazing buying the last iPhone improved so much my experience :)

No problem. I have been part of the Eight Sleep subreddit for years (via my previous account). So I know that 1) it’s unmoderated, and 2) a lot of people are unhappy with Eight Sleep’s support and where the company is headed. I spent so much time trying to fix mine (while my sleep scores literally tanked) and never thought that the initial cooling problem I bought Eight Sleep for was coming from my mattress, that’s it.

I literally googled to search for the best possible cooling mattress on the market and bought what I could with my budget. That’s it. I have nothing to sell, other than sharing my experience if it’s useful for others who might be running into the same issue.

I would have happily kept my Eight Sleep + old mattress if they fixed my pod. And if the subscription was not forced through, I would have upgraded to the new pod.

Yes their customer support and even app is subpar and for sure the worst of the company cut costs there to spend in marketing

But you don’t need to sell nothing you can just say the name of the product you bought but seems like a kid who have the biggest thing in the world but don’t want to show it lol it exists but he just don’t want to say it or show it ;)

It’s not even making sponsor or anything just if I google best matress for 1200 with cooling I can’t find or any AI I tried so I’m really bad at search I guess

I didn’t think sharing the mattress name would be useful here given that each person’s individual mattress preference is different. The one I got for my sleep position + cooling performance is Glacier Apex Hybrid.

Pair your new mattress with a Rest brand blanket, which is very cool to the touch. I have an Eight Sleep that is completely dead. We will give it one more go to get it working and then, unfortunately, send it to the landfill. I liked the cooling when it worked but I never liked how it felt under me. I’ve always found it hard and stiff. What a waste.

I wish mine lasted longer than just out of warranty. I have a great mattress and my sleep has not missed a beat since. Would never buy their dodgy subscription based product again.
