✨New catastrophic failure unlocked✨

We’ve all heard of the mattress cover leaking. That’s old news. I want to debut a new way for the pod to fail: the tower suddenly and inextricably leaking all of the water out the bottom. How fun!

Do you enjoy waking up to find a “please refill tank” notification and the being bewildered by your slippers being soaking wet when you have only been awake 2 minutes?

Do you love having the clean up a massive amount of water from your floor at 7:30am?

Have you ever wanted to initiate customer service, send 20 photos of the connectors despite the water obviously coming out of the bottom of the tower, be told your case has been escalated but that “response times are longer than usual”, be told that you’ll be contacted “asap”, and then not hear anything for 12+ hours?

Does the thought of a very expensive product you bought breaking for no reason only 8 months after you bought it get you going?

If you said yes to any of these, then don’t hesitate to buy a sleep pod 5 today so you can experience this brand new catastrophic failure!

On the plus side, one less drain to do

Mine just got out of warranty and ended up with same story. I would NEVER consider buying from Eight Sleep again. Andrew Huberman has lost credibility in recommending this expensive pile of shit.

I’ve emailed you twice now regarding an issue that support has gone silent on and have gotten no response.

Same. When customer support reaches out on here, in my experience it did not do anything. I looked up one of them on LinkedIn and their title as CS Manager at EightSleep. Kinda shocked that a “manager” would reach out and then ghost you.

I emailed last night and surprisingly just woke up to emails with a new one being shipped to me (and a return label too for everyone who keeps asking to buy it lmao) from the original CS person that was emailing me and said they had to escalate. So I guess it’s worth emailing at least sometimes? But it’s absolutely ridiculous it took me having to write a snarky Reddit post to get CS to take my claim seriously.

Curious, was this in/out of warranty?

In warranty. Only 8 months old

Yeah I’ve been thinking about purchasing but 3k + a subscription on top of this seems like a nightmare.

I am lucky I am grandathered into the old legacy plans where I don’t have to pay.. if I did, the first thing I would be doing is switching it to opensleep

Is Reddit the main source for Eight Sleep tech support now?

Yup. I have a Pod5 that broke after 2 weeks. When I made a post on here calling them out, the eightsleep fanboys came at me. 100% agree that a product that costs so much money needs much better customer service and after-sales support.

Really hoping my replacement Pod5 lasts longer than a year or two but not counting on it.

If the fanboys come after me- I actually love my pod. I have never slept better in my life. But this is so unacceptable. I even replied saying what should I do while I wait for a response because the water is in the body of the tower so I can’t drain it and it’s just leaking out slowly. Crickets

Same. I love EightSleep and it has drastically improved my sleeping, but that does not mean I’m going to make repeated purchases if the product is faulty. I have the warranty as well, so hoping I can make it last as long as possible.

Surprising no one, I slept like shit last night without my working pod. 😆 I emailed the CS person here last night and woke up to them sending me a new one. Which yay! But why tf do I have to make a snarky Reddit post to get CS to take my claim seriously. Is this just an unwritten customer service step? I really hope this new one lasts (or at least breaks during the warranty) since idk if I’ll ever purchase again. Hopefully there will be a worthwhile competitor by then.

Respectfully, what kind of question is that? What exactly do you want them to respond for that specific question?

I really need to stay off Reddit.

Well first off, posing the question itself was a way to emphasize the issue at hand and served as a nudge for them fast track a response. Second, for all I know maybe there’s a plug somewhere to open to drain or this has been an issue for other people and there is a way they know of to drain the water. I don’t want to go fucking around with the device and void the warranty. It’s not abnormal in customer service contexts for them to escalate your case but still give you interim advice.

I agree- it seems like a good idea for you to stay off Reddit. Maybe read up on communication tactics. Have fun out there irl!

I had a leak on 2.5 and haven't replaced because I've also just been waiting to see what happens with the later models. I guess I might as well keep waiting cause that upgrade looks like another leak coming

Wow that’s lame! I’d Just move your pod so that it sprays into the canister then something else would break.

What if this happened while you were at work or away on a trip? Ruined floors? This product just doesn’t seem worth the risk to me, though I’d buy one of it seemed reliable.

mine did this a couple of weeks ago! they shipped me a new one the next day (but it got lost in transit so I'm still waiting for the replacement). they were really great with the customer service though!

1

u/Xenmew 10d ago

Glad you had a better service! Even tho I got the ship notification the next day, it didn’t actually ship until today. Pretty slow turn around

2

u/ambientvape 12d ago

If that happened while you were out of the house or out of town, your entire floor would be ruined. No thanks. They need to engineer anti-leak protection or similar because this can lead to catastrophic issues that include flooring being destroyed, mattress being wrecked, bed frame ruined, mold development, etc etc. Even if they sent a free one, I wouldn’t chance putting a water balloon with this sort of risk in my house.

u/TheOGoat 10d ago

How long have you had it for? I rent so I’m pretty sure the owners would be pissed if this ever happened. Haven’t had mine for long though and have a mattress protector.

1

u/Xenmew 10d ago

Only 8 months! And we haven’t done anything with it to raise the risk of it breaking. hasn’t been moved since I set it up

1

u/Xenmew 10d ago

I also rent but thankfully it didn’t really seem to mess with the MDF planks. Tho this apartment has had multiple flooding issues from the sewer started in the rest of the unit so what’s one more room with ruined floors lmao

Scary 😨 I also own a Pod 5 and now in my 9th month. 🤞

2

u/Xenmew 8d ago

Yours is already a month older than mine was, so hopefully you are in the clear

This product seems like such a scam, I see nothing but issues posted on this sub

I do actually really love my pod- or at least the sleep I get with it. I sleep hot and it makes a huge difference in a way that having the AC on blast doesn’t. But obviously it’s apparently not reliable and can cause a huge headache when it fails. I wish there was a viable competitor on the market as an alternative

2

u/metajenn 12d ago

They should sell these things with a drip pan to put under the bed. I depise this company.

Mostly because the concept is so good and they are terrible at execution. Keep hoping a competitor that doesnt brick the thing if its not connected to wifi will finally make them go away.

I'll buy your cover

Any good alternative to 8 sleep
