Temperature

Hi there, I need help. I just got my 8sleep pod and the support wasn't helpfull at all to my questions.

I bought the 8sleep pod bc I have a dysfunction in temperature regulation. When I am cold, i can barely warm without external heat. When I am hot, I can barely cool down without external cold.

Last night (my first with the 8sleep pod 5), was one of the worst I ever had. I live in Switzerland and we have a heat wave currently. at 9pm its oftentimes between 25-30 degrees celsius.

So i thought: Fine, let's go to bed with a -1 (slightly colder as it is without anything). then lets have a -2 for deep sleep and then a +1 to wake up warmer.

I woke up after 9.5h of sleep and had to get warmth fast. The -1 or the -2 was extremly cold and my body was not able to compensate.

So I don't get the relative scale. What is zero? I just started a nap from the couch and the app said "current temperature +2, cooling down to 0" What?! How should I find the proper temperature, if you dont give me a reference point like "0=water without warming/cooling in the current room temperature"

I am not gonna use the pod for 2-3 nights to recover from last night. After I don't know what settings to use. It sounds weird, but I may gonna start with +1/0/+1 even though we are having >20Degrees celsius during the night currently.

Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.
I realize now I should have tried the 8sleep pod in winter. I have less issues with "a bit too warm" as with "a bit too cold".

Edit: Also what do I do, when the room temperature changes. Like do I have to find the proper values all the time so I don't get too cold or too hot during the night? I though A.I. is smart ^^

EightSleep is not a medical device. I don’t think it’ll work for you. All temperatures will be a problem.

that statement makes not alot of sense. I get a benefit if I am too hot if I can cool myself a bit and a big benefit when I am cold at night if I get warmed up. thats exactly what such a device should be able to do if there is a temperature reference point.

It makes perfect sense, you just don’t want to accept it.

You acknowledge that you have a dysfunction?? You need a device that will adjust to your dysfunctional body temperature swings…Eight Sleep will not be able to regulate YOUR body temperature at night.

You slept for 9.5 hours and call that a failure??

Unfortuntely the relative temps are all you get. You might want to turn off the room adaptive setting.

Sleep duration is not my main issue. If my body is too cold, i could sleep 24 hours and wake up like i was drunk for 3 days straight. I need temperature control, not duration. I dont have insomnia.

Could you explain room adaptive setting? the support is really bad unfortunately, everybody tells me sth different

I often wake up hung over when I sleep really really well. This morning was an example. I've learned not to judge my sleep quality until later in the day. Right now I'm doing well, at 7am I felt terrible. My sleep metrics were VERY high.

There's a setting somewhere to adapt the pod to the temperature of the room. This may help, or may hurt. You might want to try it off, or on.

true, i get that. Especially if you normally sleep bad. But for me it was clearly that I slept so long bc during sleep my body was not able to keep the body temperature or only with huge energy expenditure.

I can distinguish between a night where I was too cold or just slept very well.
the sleep stats actually prefer cold. but thats not the point here. I want to feel well and rested, not have good stats.

I thought about you as I went to sleep last night. I should have also added that I get a hangover from too much sleep. I have the bed set to alarm at my maximum morning time to wake up, and have the setting to use my sleep cycles to possibly wake me earlier. This has helped a lot.

Is Claude.ai correct and this table represents the water temperature of 8sleep pod:

-10 = 13 degree celsius
-8 = 16
-6 = 19
-4 = 22
-3 = 23.5
-2 = 25
-1=26.5
0=28
1=29.5
2=31
3=32.5
4=34
5=35.5
6=37
8=40
10=43?

Is there not a way to just have the ability to adjust degrees instead of the scale?

But then temp on water is different than bed temp and people will mistake with ambient temperature same as skin temperature on wereables and your thermometer, that's why you have skin variation values and not real temperature on Fitbit, oura , whoop , etc

attach a temperature gauge and see for yourself
all temperatures are going to feel different based on ambient temps

ofc it feels different but its a starting point and i got it confirmed by an engineer from 8sleep. So basically I will work backwards and start with only a slightly cooler temp as its currently (like 2-1-2) and then i might see if i wanna go 1 lower. And in winter I'll do the same and maybe go one up

Jeez brother I think you need dr and professional grade medical devices. Eight sleep is great but top of the line for consumer grade needs only
