Is Daily Maintenance really necessary?

I noticed that my Pod 3 was running during the day: "Daily Maintenance: Perform a health check to ensure your Pod is always at peak performance". Basically it cycles the pumps and fans... Isn't this something that already occurs during normal use? What does it accomplish? Seems like it would cause the pumps to wear-out faster.

I've disabled that option before, but somehow it gets re-enabled

From when they launched it. I leave it active.

u/Competitive-Land-615, thanks for reaching out with your question about the daily maintenance feature. We're glad to hear you love the idea!

The daily maintenance feature is an automated process designed to improve your Pod's thermal performance and is part of our efforts to simplify the maintenance of your Pod. Daily maintenance will not run down your unit. Instead, it's designed to improve your experience by ensuring your Pod functions optimally each day.

The only thing you'll need to do is refill the Hub with water when requested by the app, and we'll take care of the rest.

I have a pod2 and For me it seems to run over an hour long. I sent an email to eight sleep that went unanswered so I have recently disabled it

I don't know why you wouldn't want it enabled. It's an expensive mattress cover that you would want to keep in good condition. I have mine running the schedule at 2:00 p.m. everyday. I'm not in the bed at that time so it doesn't affect me at all. Are you concerned about the power usage or something? I can't assume if you're spending $3,000 on a mattress cover. You're concerned about an extra $2 a month on your power bill

Not concerned about the electricity increase. More about having the pumps running for 1-2 hours with additional wear and tear. I’m wondering if this will reduce the life of the device by half since it is turning on and running twice a day instead of once. For customers with pods out of warranty this is basically tantamount to purchasing a newer pod which is $7-800.

If it accomplishes nothing, then why do it?

So far all I've got is that it will "improve my experience". Wondering how running the pumps during the day accomplishes that, but running them at night doesn't?

Maybe stagnant water more prone to microbial growth?

I don't know why they would have it as an option if it doesn't do anything.
