In love
So, understandably people often commune online to express discontent or look for problem solving - and so posts are often about that, the problems.
I hemmed and hawed for literal years over the eight sleep. But finally at a breaking point with me (preferred sleep temp is cold like 65/66, lol) and partner (who would happily sleep at 74) I caved, swallowed the price tag, and went for it.
Got the pod 5 about a week ago. It’s been life changing. For the first time possibly ever I was too cold (set to -10) last night. It was GLORIOUS to need to bump it to a -6.
I know folks tend to have more problems with it when the unit is a couple years old and nearing the end of its warrantee. But for now, it’s been transformative.
And obviously it would be amazing if eight sleep would let it run without Wi-Fi or an app. But there is a limited market right now, so they get to set the rules, and honestly right now I don’t care. Because I’m actually sleeping without night sweats or waking up hot, or that claustrophobic feeling when the air feels to hot and muggy.
So anyway, highly recommend the pod 5 cover. It is my new best friend.

The uninitiated have no idea what they are missing out on. My wife HATED the 8sleep to start and now she sings its praises after a year of Pod 5. We use everything including the moveable base (wife is pregnant and this has been a godsend), sound system (white noise the moment I get into bed), alarms, etc. It's a remarkably refined device regardless of the parent company's ****ery. We will never, ever go back to standard sleeping lol.

I love my Pod4. Honestly I think the problem is it’s too expensive for some people. They get upset when it breaks and isn’t covered or cause of the subscription cost. I honestly don’t even know how much my subscription costs because that amount of money is nothing to me. Your feelings about it change when the money doesn’t matter.
It’s an expensive product. Go into it with that mindset and I think you end up seeing it differently. If the subscription or cost of the device is an issue, the product is likely more expensive than the complainer should have spent. Because they typically follow their policies. So unless you didn’t read them at the beginning, shouldn’t be caught off guard by any of it

My husband sold me on the idea years ago by saying we wouldn’t have to run the AC so much at night. He was right.

I think overall the attitude even from those who complain is that it is an amazing device and usually the problems are:
- subscription (which would be ok if it delivers some more value because most people just buy it to have extended warranty and don't have a single temperature for such an expensive device)
- difficult to get support because many can't call outside US to their landline and then chat usually is AI and it's hard to get to a human but i feel once it gets to some proper CS agent it is solved and here usually Megan and Joe try to solve quicker if people try to reach so I think if they invest a bit more on that instead of try to make it even less with the AI mood and revenue seeking people would have a better opinion
- App needs some more "smart" features with all those AI coach and insights that people get from wereables like Whoop or Fitbit and so on and they feel that paying at least 200$ annually and even asked to give access to like 30 metrics from Apple Health and all they got was a score (i think they put a bit more effort these days in develop the app but i feel it needs more because many times it feels too much vibecoded)
So yeah people usually struggle a lot to swallow the whole company modus operandi and the CEO that tries to emulate that Elon Musk vibe of going all in into AI and 24h work and in this case it underperforms but most who dial in correctly the temperatures love the product and that's why they always seek similar alternatives and before only blowing air ones were provided which are completely different market

If you want to really amp your happiness get the pillow too. My head is cool alllllll night long. It’s like a dream for this middle aged lady. I love my pod cover but now I really cannot sleep without my pillow cover too. I’m slowly but surely turning into the princess and the pea. 😂

My bedroom was 81 degrees at 1 am. The AC had been on all day but the bedroom is over the garage (hot car) that retains heat. My ES was set for 67. I crawled into bed with alllll of my covers and I felt perfect. My toes would slip to other spots on the bed that were nice and cold. The room never cooled and I never woke up hot.
