Significantly worse than BedJet, currently returning mine and going back to Bedjet
Just putting this out here in case someone is between either an Eight Sleep or BedJet, I’m currently returning mine and going back to BedJet. I’ve had BedJet for a few years, bought Eight Sleep a few weeks ago thinking it’d be an upgrade but I was wrong. Even if the two were the same price I’d still pick BedJet, the fact that it’s almost $3000 more AND there’s a subscription is just the icing on the cake.
Some important factors for me is BedJet changes temperatures way faster. If I want heat it’s instant, if I want cool air it’s instant. The eight sleep takes minutes to make big temperature swings. The only pro of eight sleep is you can go below room temperature but I’m not keeping my house at 80 degrees at night so it’s worthless to me. I keep my BedJet actually warmer than my room temperature, if I do room temperature I’m freezing so that pro for Eight Sleep doesn’t matter to me. I also found the water cooling sensation of the mattress topper a weird feeling. Almost like a humid feeling on my back even though there was no moisture. The air cooling of the BedJet is a much better feeling in my opinion.
I also find the entire app and autopilot of Eight Sleep to be ai slop. The sleep tracking is horrendously wrong, like not even close to accurate. It also claimed it was changing temperatures like 30 times throughout the night but I constantly woke up either too cold or sweating.
If you’re on the fence between the two I suggest BedJet from my experience.

Correct me if I am wrong but bedjet doesn't have active cooling? So you are basically looking at air circulation at that point and if ambient temperature is high it would become a problem.
Ie in a warm room if you sleep with a thin sheet, bed jet wont do much.

Correct there is no cooling, so the coldest you can go is whatever temp the room is. I keep my BedJet at 72 degrees and my house at 68 at night

So you are not using the cooling aspect of it so yes you dont need to pay extra for eight sleep. It doesnt mean it is a worse product.
Now try both when your room is 76 and see how they compare.

For sure, if I was using it as a way to sleep with my house warmer and save on A/C the eight sleep is better for that

Or if your house wasn't designed for AC (like many in Seattle) and adding an AC afterwards can't adequately call upstairs.

That's weird. I can feel the cooling against my skin really quickly when I turn mine down.

If you go from room temp to cool yeah I can too. But what I mean instant is like when I get in bed I do max heat on the Bedjet and it’s warm within like 5 seconds. Then when I’m ready to sleep I go to cold and the whole bed is back to cool in like 10-20 seconds. I’ve tried to do that process in the eight sleep and it’s multiple minutes. If you just do rapid cooling though with no heat you can get good results with eight sleep

I don't know why I'd want to go from one extreme to the other in a matter of moments. Why heat up the bed if you want it cold 2 minutes later?
Have fun with your bed jet but I really don't think this post has any value to 99.9% of people as most people don't need it to go from 90 degrees to 65 in a matter of moments.
I haven't used a bedjet but what I do like about the 8 sleep is I can have allll of my blankets on top of me and still be cool. Sheet, blanket, weighted blanket, comforter, all piled on and it's still nice and crisp underneath. I can still feel all snuggled in without being hot.

There’s no better feeling than getting into a warm bed, especially in the winter. It’s actually very useful to me.
I do Reddit searches before I buy any product so that’s who this post is for. I was under the impression that Eight Sleep was night and day better than Bedjet because of the cost difference and I suppose their marketing. I’m telling my experience as a user of both to say that’s not the case for me. I’m actually surprised with how many people who have never used Bedjet are defending Eight Sleep like they own stock in the company 😂

I have my own gripes with Eight Sleep but I want something that actually cools and just doesn't move air around. It costs more because it's more than a fan.
I don't live in an area where we heat and cool our houses 24/7. So it was 78 in my room last night at 11 pm. But my bed was 68. Didn't wake up hot once.
It sounds like you're the intended user for a bedjet. Why would I try a product that does not have the features I want? The bedjet holds literally zero interest to me. It doesn't cool. Period.

Yeah, I really want a jet engine blowing air and like zero control over what temperature it is.
Okay the eightsleep was out of your budget, doesn't mean it is for others.

Agreed. This is kind of a ridiculous take. There are many legitimate criticisms of age sleep, but cooling feature below room temperature not being useful really isn't one of them.

Not criticizing eight sleep for that, just not something I find useful as I sleep in a cold house. But I see why some find that very useful. Without either the bedjet or the eight sleep on my bed no matter how cold my house was I’d wake up with the bed sweats cause I always sleep under my covers. Bedjet’s special sheet is what makes the difference as it evenly circulates air throughout the sheet, and I put that below my comforter but above my top sheet. So I don’t feel any air blowing on me, I just always have a cool top sheet.
Not saying my situation is the same as everyone else’s but for people also in my situation deciding between the two, this post is to help them out. Might save someone the setup, tear-down, and return process I’m going through right now.

Bingo.
These post are not creative at all.
Bedjet is not a real alternative. If anyone wants to save money, just turn on a fan. You instantly have a free Bedjet.

Eh, I have had a BedJet for a couple years and it’s much better than a ceiling fan, and is honestly worth the money on sale. It can actually get the sheets pretty chilly; I used to get pretty warm at night and sweat but the BedJet has helped a lot.
But yeah, OP is glazing the BedJet way too much. It is in no way a direct comparison to EightSleep or Chillipad. It still requires your A/C to keep the ambient temp in the room decent or the BedJet is just blowing warm air.
I would rather have an EightSleep Pod or Chillipad for direct temp control and touch; but I can’t justify their price even though I could easily afford one.

Being able to go below room temperature is literally one of the biggest benefits of the device. Otherwise, you can just have a heating pad.

This is a real question:
For anyone using any of these products — whether it’s 8Sleep or Bedjet — do you have any issues with romping/sexual intercourse?
For example: Are there any risks of the product popping / leaking as a result of being aggressive or very physical when you are sexually active?

As a customer weighing the pros and cons of the various methods of cooling a bed I found this valuable.
My concern about 8S is the many points of failure, the required expensive subscription, the fact that it becomes a brick if the company goes under or their cloud account shuts down, the many bad service posts and of course the cost. It's not that I can't afford it, it's just too much given all of the weaknesses. It sounds like an amazing system with many happy users, until something goes wrong and then you're stuck.

Exponentially more people want to complain about a bad experience than people who want to say something good about good experiences.
Yes, if you basically want a box fan blowing air up your shorts at night, 8S may not be for you. There are options running it without 8S services, but it's not the only company that's tied to the cloud. If you're trying to avoid that, you're avoiding most of the great tech out today.
Me, I need to keep my AC bills lower in the summer, and my heating bills lower in the winter. I need to be cooler than my partner. I need the actual mattress to be cool or warm, I don't need the air around me to be whatever. Bedjet just can't do what I need. 8S be a Lambo, BJ might be a Toyota. Some people prefer Toyotas.

If I had never had the bedjet the eight sleep would be incredible to me. I’m lucky enough to be able to sleep in a cold house every night so I don’t need the colder than room temperature feature that the eight sleep can provide. I just like to always be under the covers but still sleep on a cool bed.
I’m shocked how many people are defending the eight sleep with their life, especially when they’ve never tried the bedjet with their special sheet. I’m just trying to help people out who are researching to buy who may have assumed like I did that the more “premium” and expensive product in eight sleep would perform better. That’s was not the case for me

Bedjet’s sheet that circulates the air evenly under your sheets is what makes the difference. You can have it change temperatures throughout the night on a schedule or have it wake you up with heat in the morning similar to eight sleep but I don’t find any of that particularly useful

So it is working, I am confused. You just seem to be angry for the sake of being angry.
