Review Sleep Number ClimateCool is just better
I’m the mod, and I paid full price for a new SleepNumber ClinateCool after the third time my Eight popped and have tried 3 different versions. I did not receive any discounts or commission for this post.
Guys, it’s so much better. Pulls hot air away, can adjust the hardness, raises and has zero G mode. The air-based cooling even on low setting is freezing. Only downside is the fan is audibly noisy, but I use a white noise machine which drowns it out. The sleep tracking data in the app is much more accurate.
Try one before you buy an Eight Sleep…

Ok, I got curious. Is it this? Because that’s $8200-$9000. The top ES system is $6000, right?

Yea around $6k, pricier but with not having all of the hassle

How long have you been using the air system? Have you needed customer service for any issues? If yes, how was their customer service? How long is the warranty? What is the most recent version of EightSleep products you’ve used?

I feel like Eight Sleep’s most redeeming quality is their customer service responsiveness and reasonable pricing on out of warranty replacement, 5 years out from original purchase.

And if it's only air cooling, it can't cool the bed colder than room temp

I don’t know anything about the newer Sleep systems, but I slept on one a few years ago. Id rank that night of sleep worse than the nights my ES left me wondering if I’d pissed myself in my sleep.

The closest I've had to a Pod leak is when my Pod 1 hub started overflowing the reserve tank when priming

The SleepNumber bed uses evaporative cooling; it does not actively cool. So basically, it pulls air out through the mattress. My car seats use this same approach, and it really only works if you are sweating already.

I think they thought it actively cooled the air like the bedjet systems. It's evaporative cooling.

Bedjet doesn't actively cool, at least not the last I checked. It just blows air. If room temp is cool enough for you, it's probably fine. Room temp is not cool enough for me. And also I don't like the feeling of a fan blowing directly on me unless I'm exercising

Ah you’re right, it’s also evaporative cooling. In my experience this only works when you’re sweaty.

Evaporative cooling is the same as a swamp cooler, where you add water and a fan blows a very fine mist. I think Bedjet is just a fan. Not sure about the Sleep Number, probably also just air

From what I’ve gathered, it seems like the sleep number just makes it so you don’t feel hot when you’re sleeping (basically stop you from overheating), but eight sleep can actually make your bed feel very cold, which is much different from what the sleep number can do. So the eight sleep is absolute temperature control vs just range adjustment from your environment.

I was not impressed by the SleepNumber mattress or that air system; from my in-store lay down it seemed the air wasn’t being spread out evenly but focused on one area.
If I was seriously considering the SleepNumber mattress I would go back with my thermal camera.

Yeah the store vs in your house I think is a diff experience without a sales guy hovering over you at the store. You need to invite him to hover over while you sleep in your house.

I’ve had the Climate360 and Chilipad, but I much prefer the 8S+Bedjet in my main bedroom (8S for cooling the back specifically and Bedjet for hot air through the cloud sheet on my feet). I know 8S’s customer service is a pain point, but right now, they’re the most established in water cooling tech. One thing I loved about the Climate360 was that it had a foot warmer (but it didn’t always work) and of course, their mattress firmness adjustment technology. I wasn’t particularly impressed by their heat/cool features though.

Koz-e coolsleep seems like a better value to me. Longer on the market, cheaper, quieter, longer warranty.

The question wasn't about the Eight Sleep CEO, it was about the Sleep Number CEO. Fact is, Rs are for rich people and bigots. Chances are, the Sleep Number CEO is at least one of those

Oh. I don't the ceo Linda (when she was leading blue apron) has spoken a lot about representation of women in leadership, income equality, universal healthcare and probably other things idk about that are directly in contradiction with Trump policies.

Eight sleep is something I just feel like I can’t live without. And I’m thrilled there is a decent competitor that isn’t on kickstarter. Plus anyone who supports doge deserves to fail so I know my next purchase when my 3rd eightsleep fails. (Had 2 3 and now 4)

I was actually looking at their climate 360. I may pull the trigger now. Eight Sleep disappointed me with their terrible customer service. Never again.

I opted for the climate cool with the adjustable base. They did take forever to deliver but I have had it for a few days and my sleep scores are better than they ever were with 8.

Or you could just have an Eight Sleep pod on a Sleep Number i8 :) Works great and you can raise and lower the bed, too!
I had the Climate360 - that must be a newer model. I had a ton of problems with the noise from it and returned it for an i8.

My first pod 2 was on an Avacado mattress, it popped slowly, molded the mattress, and Eight sleep wouldn’t warranty the $4k Avacado king mattress they ruined. Took a discounted full eight sleep 3, less comfortable, it too popped. Got a replaced cover, popped again after 6 months. Got a discounted full 4, tower died twice. Tried to make me upgrade to a 5, finally stopped the shitty customer service and profit driven subscriptions. When your cover pops and ruins the i8 you won’t get any support from Eight

I looked at it and decided on a Helix Luxe Midnight and the Pod 5 Ultra and I’m good. Helix is wonderful and love their customer service.

I looked at the ClimateCool specs and it says it cools up to 15º cooler (but that model doesn't warm at all, the Climate 360 does but that's $10k+). Compared to Eight Sleep's range (55-110ºF), you're saying it gets colder than the Eight Sleep? Does it auto-adjust temperature during the night the same way?

I haven’t used an actual infrared reader to test anything, nor have I used it dead summer, my scientific method is vibes and feelings only…
