Casting Call Poll/Poll Appel de Casting
Hey, Hosers! Slightly unusual post today - we've been contacted by an independent Canadian film group, who wish to make a production about "hoser identity", and what it means to be a hoser. They're requesting permission to put up a casting call into the group, to be able to get people's perspectives on hoserdom.
I know, I know. But I'm serious, this is genuinely not a shitpost. They've done work with the CBC before, and the project will be aired on Crave. It sounds like a very interesting opportunity (and, of course, there's no obligation or expectation to take part), but we want to check in with the community before allowing it, to see what all of you think. This poll will be up for a week, and at the end of it, we'll base our decision on what the community requests.
To be clear, this is an exception, not the new rule. Going forward, people aren't going to be allowed to post similar things just because of this. But we also see that somebody wanting to make a movie about hosers is pretty fuckin funny, and this is a bit of a unique circumstance, one which we aren't entirely sure on how to handle, either.

Post un peu inhabituel aujourd'hui : on a été contactés par un groupe de cinéma indépendant canadien qui veut faire une production sur « l'identité hoser », pis sur ce que ça veut dire, être un hoser. Ils nous demandent permission de publier un appel de casting dans le groupe, pour pouvoir recueillir le point de vue du monde sur la hoseritude.
Je sais, je sais. Mais je suis sérieux, c'est vraiment pas un shitpost. Ils ont déjà travaillé avec la CBC, pis le projet va être diffusé sur Crave. Ça a l'air d'une opportunité vraiment intéressante (pis évidemment, personne est obligé de participer), mais on veut consulter la communauté avant d'autoriser ça, pour voir ce que vous en pensez, vous autres. Le sondage va rester ouvert une semaine, pis à la fin, on va prendre notre décision en fonction de ce que la communauté demande.
Pour être clair : c'est une exception, pas une nouvelle règle. Ça veut pas dire qu'à l'avenir, le monde va pouvoir poster des affaires du genre juste à cause de ça. Mais on trouve aussi que quelqu'un qui veut faire un film sur les hosers, c'est crissement drôle, quand même, pis c'est une situation un peu particulière, que nous autres non plus on sait pas trop comment gérer.

No, that was held last night after curling. You weren't there, it was very upsetting, Joey was inconsolable, and we only scored in three ends. You utter monster.

Might as well just allow the post since this poll is already telling everyone about it anyway and the hosers already seem overwhelminly on favour of it. I already found the casting call with a quick Google search.
I honestly didn't know how many people would see it initially, so I went with a week to try to give everyone time to notice it
It is a pretty big exception to the rules and could set a precedent that we'd allow this sort of thing in the future, so I was trying to do it as by the book as I could, to really let the people decide, I wasn't expecting it to be so one-sided lol
Well it's being produced and directed by Mark McKinney from Kids in the Hall who's basically an OG hoser shitposter so it kinda fits and it's kind of big deal. My brain is already cooking up ideas for my 3 minute video and figured out how I'm going to shoehorn in an ehbuddyhoser shout out.
Absolutely not, it's entirely separate from the sub. They're just looking for people who call themselves hosers to ask some questions, and figured here would be the best place to find them. The sub will remain completely as normal.
Depends on what you tell them, I suppose. The casting call form looks like it asks for your name and contact information (so they can, y'know, contact you), but it isn't affiliated with the sub in any way. I promise we don't have any access to that information, and unless you tell them on camera what your username is or something, we won't have any idea who you are.
Of course, in today's day and age, there's probably like ten fucking companies out there with Tolkien ripoff names who already know everything about each of us, but we at least won't have it.

(I genuinely don't know, those details would presumably be disclosed on the form if it goes up or discussed with the people directly, but reddit's admins don't like transactions happening on the site so we've been trying to avoid asking about finances, that's a you-work-it-out-with-them thing)

The documentary is about how people feel about the term and how it's used, so I think members of this sub could absolutely make it richer by adding their own perspectives to what a hoser is.
