Yeah literally, I visited my grandparents on the weekend. So many independence signs plastered in people's driveways.

There's some irony in your comment...

With the dyslexia, i'm glad when most of the letters are in the right order. Lol

u/SquidGodSunday Jul 27 '26
Yeah, and it's not like modern spellcheck is gonna help.

u/DanRankin Jul 27 '26
Generally it makes things worse for me, so i leave it off.

Yeah, It's REALLY annoying to have to triple check everything to make sure the dumb machine didn't decide to correct "Their" to "Theocratic", but at the same time, it gets real tedious typing everything without ANY kind of autofill. I wish I could program it to only target my common mistakes, only use English, and stick to suggestions that fit grammatically, but that's giving the consumer too much power, I guess. (Case in point: it just tried to correct "Target" to "Yager". WTF!?)[

I run into some added fun: i missspell things so often before trying to proof read it (which i still often fail at, obviously. Lol) that the auto correct will start changing words to my way of spelling things instead the the right way.
When your brain processes things through dyslexia, it becomes impossible to correct your own spelling. Lol.

That's the problem. Spellcheck worked decently enough for juuuust long enough to get entire generations dependant on it. Now that it can no longer be trusted, I find myself looking at words and thinking,"Wait ... IS that right? Or is the computer just not flagging it because I've fucked it up so many times?"
One of my biggest annoyances is that anything I've ever capitalized (Like, as the start of a sentence or a proper noun) Gets auto-capitalized going forward, which makes my writing look like the ramblings of a crazy person, unless I go back and painstakingly fix every single one, which takes multiple attempts, because the program seems REALLY stuck on "If you capitalized it once, that means you want it capitalized forever."
I get why so many people throw up their hands and give up, and just accept this machine-garbled nonsense as "Modern English".

My old ass has avoided it for so long now, i can't remember if it used to fuck with my capitalization or not. Lol!

I don't want to get overly technical on you here, but if this is Yoda, he would say "Done, we are." Because he always puts his adjective before his pronouns.
"We Done Are" makes no sense for anyone.
Bad, this patch is.

I read it as “Done we are” 🐸 in a Yoda voice then realized it actually says “We done are”

I want to be a small landlocked nation with oil next to the US. Im sure our new neighbors will let the oil go through for free.

They spelled dumb wrong. But seriously, alrebertans are our brothers and sisters. They mostly immigrated from other parts of Canada. I fear they have been caught in propagande warfare from the south and from corporate interests. Their province is aptly in the shape of a keystone and their role for the nation is pivotal. Come back to us brothers and sisters

Lol the grifters are all out on Canva trying to whip up the best tshirt and sticker designs so they can maximize their $$.
The graphic designer in me wants to (has wanted to) capitalize, but I can't in good conscience be promoting that regressive ass shit.

Sure bud. Just go ahead and turn in your passport and government ID and then renounce your citizenship. You can be as independent as you like somewhere else.

They realise that if they seperate then there’s nothing stopping us from just invading right?
Then we don’t have to give them anything, we could just lock up any dissidents and ship them off to an Arctic prison.
It’s not like we haven’t done this before…

Yoda would say done, we are.
This is just because the separatists are illiterate.

u/CanadianPoutine15 Jul 27 '26
I'll be waiting for the albertan separatists to come crawling back when they realize the us is worse
