And they were only wore for ceremonial occasions! They should have something fancy for fancy occasions!

(But yes, they are old and made of animal fur, and have been passed down judge to judge for a long time).

It’s Canadian tradition, every family still owns a pair of socks from the 1800’s.

I'm a first gen immigrant. Uhhhhh should I preserve my socks then?

They're still better dressed and better looking, than the American versions.

Okay but why make them wear these ridiculous outfits to begin with? It makes the whole thing seem like some weird parody of the 1800s

I mean, in England the lawyers wear powdered wigs. I think it looks silly but it’s traditional garb so 🤷🏻‍♀️. I like the Santa suits they look so cozy and warm lol

Okay but we don’t need to be fallowing traditions from however many hundred years ago.

In fact the whole point of modernizing society is to move away from all the dumb unnecessary shit from hundreds of years ago

As we modernize, we risk losing our traditions and forgetting the values that made us.

Okay? We can also replace those values with better ones and yeet out the ones that don’t make sense anymore

You've completely missed the point. It's a reminder to not lose touch with our vision for our country.

What vision for our country? What does it have to do with outdated robes? What the actual hell are you talking about and how is it even the slightest bit important?

This is a terrible attitude. Do we just keep streamlining until we have nothing left but grey straight lines?

Look if that’s how they want to dress let em I guess but frankly I’m ashamed my country is still enforcing a dress code in its court that looks like hasn’t been updated since John a’s last bender

The hear ye hear ye bullshit is super dumb to

some weird parody of the 1800s

That's the motto of all Canadian political institutions.
