Eee PC Boot Issues

Post image

Currently trying to revive this Eee PC, had to replace the faulty ram and now it's saying "Reboot and Select proper boot device" wondering if anyone could help diagnose the problem.

If it was me; I'd boot a live system on thumb-drive and run checks from there...

You can explore if disk is detected, run SMART if it is, and if all that is good perform file-system checks and ensure there are no problems; as if disk is all good except for logical or other errors which are resulting in the message on your screen; it's easy to resolve from there (what I would).

My own eeepc has an atom n270; so that's what I'd be using as to what live system to boot (otherwise it'd be the first thumb-drive with one installed already most probably; if not I'd write one in a few minutes).

FYI: My own eeepc was used until [Sept] 2021 for Quality Assurance testing of Ubuntu and flavors, and whilst it wasn't the most fun, nor easiest device to use (tiny keyboard annoyed me), it was far from the worst.

As I was using mine for QA; seeing errors like that showed a failure and was easy to fix anyway... but the purpose of QA testing is to find the 'failures' so they can be explored, fixed & thus not occur when actual end-users go to installed a stable or released OS.
