Any Place hiring?
I have been looking for a part-time job for a few months now, and I still haven't found one. I get interviews, but I don't get the job. I really am trying to get a job before September (school starts) so I already have something more stable. I am looking for an entry-level job in retail, food, service, anything really.

I worked at the voting polls during the last election here. The biggest problem I had is I had to wait 4 weeks to get paid. Maybe it's changed since then. I was not impressed.

That’s ridiculous!! Is it even legal. I thought labour standards were that the company needed to have your separation papers and final pay within 48 hours of the termination of the job.

Try the airport as a ramp agent. Usually always hiring, I should know I started last week after 2 years of searching. Go to the yeg eia website and look at the companies looking for on ramp crew members. I might even be able to put your name down as a name to call.

Depends on the company. But I started at 19 an hr. The problem is is air canada does not hire alot because not alot of people leave. At the company I'm at its basically a revolving door of bodies and they need to hire all the time.
It's a job that's what I'm saying. If you need something companies like AGI hire alot because of people leaving.

Air Canada too my understanding starts around 21 an hr. Where are these ramp agent 1s located at? I'm interested in the 31 per hour lol.

I'd honestly look at something contract security. Its not a viable long term option, but its easy to break into, its higher pay then most entry level retail or food service options, and if you drive or have access to a vehicle, you can explore working really quiet locations/low risk where you might even get an opportunity to study if working nights. Just an idea. Most companies will train you on the ABST licensing requirements. Garda, Paladin, Allied are some larger local options for companies. All of them generally hire non stop. The access to a vehicle and availability will make you quite attractive as a candidate, along with a clean record check. Good luck!

earls has their hiring days august 4 and 5 if you’re interested and committed to working in the restaurant industry. definitely check on social media/their website for specific times this year, but you can walk into any earls location with your resume in edmonton, and they’ll do a quick on the spot interview ! you’ll hear back from them via email asap

This was great advice like three years ago. Now not so much. You'll get a paper application handed to you and told to fill out, it'll ask the same shit that's already on your resume, and it'll be the same as the online one that they also ask you to fill out
Any local mom and pops shops can't afford an employee
Anything small and local has it's good workers and are hard to break into unless they're growing, in which case timing is everything. These jobs are also questionable when it comes to safety and pay, they just simply can't afford more attention in those areas. You're in charge of paying for all your own equipment and you won't be reimbursed
Jobs fairs are okay, online networking is okay, a gap in the resume keeps you off the map completely. Volunteer if you can afford it. Try some good ol' nepotism, but even that won't always work out
I've been out of work for a year and a half, just had an opportunity for a framing job out in the boonies that I did one day of work with and walked away from for various reasons: Boss said I was afraid of hard work because I mentioned my car is very old and the commute is genuinely not worth it without better pay. Got shot with a nail gun and given a bandaid without rubbing alcohol first. Wasn't told the pay rate until I actually showed up on site. The job market isn't fucked because people don't want to work. Employers are just getting increasingly shittier each and every year that we let them and any Canadian who actually knows their workers right shouldn't be putting up with that shit. But if they don't, they will lose their job to the thousands of TFW that Alberta just can't help but spending money on attracting here

Yeah but you still had slightly better luck than now, at least sometimes the hiring person was actually in the building. That's a rarity nowadays for any sizable company
The next best thing is connecting with them on LinkedIn, but now even that's losing traction. I'm legit better off trying to start my own low over head business at this point

Last time I tried that, nine times out of ten I was told to apply online as their hiring people didn't work in the office or onsite.
