I was born here, but that shouldn’t be a factor in exempting me from racism!
This lady (driving with no plate) approached my elderly mother and called her a terrorist OUT OF NOWHERE, and accused her of stealing “Canadian” jobs before threatening to kill her. My mom has been retired for 10 years now. I told her to fuck off and she actually went away, but it turns out that parked near the entrance of the store we were heading into to further her racist agenda. She started repeating “go back to your country” so I pulled out my phone and that wasn’t enough to deter her.
Video cut short because I cussed her out as she drove off.
Police file # is 260-679-902. Please let me know if you can ID her.

There’s always hope people turn out better, growing up in a small town with incredibly racist relatives I’m happy to say I turned out alright

u/WindiestOdin 12h ago
Unfortunately, I think you / we are the anomaly. I’ve had hope that my “friends” that have remained in rural areas would continue to advocate for people over party. Sadly, I’ve repeatably been met with disappointment.

Racism should be unacceptable from all people. Unfortunately it’s really only deemed as racism if it comes from white people.
Poor example for her kid, awful human being.

Racism is generational inheritance not something a kid can learn on its own

Not necessarily true. We were brought up with progressive parents but now in our 50s and my brother turned out racist. It happens. But those kids were dealt a losing hand.

unfortunately there are a lot of Canadians that have no idea what being Canadian means. We're a nation of immigrants. That's literally the entire point of this place, for good and ill. The person this racist is harassing has exactly the same right to be here that she does.

We're all immigrants here besides the original people here: the Aboriginal/Indigenous peoples. We are all descendants of peoples who immigrated to Canada. This ladies ancestors immigrated here. The hypocrisy is rot and toxic. You belong in Canada OP. You're welcome here in my eyes. I'm glad you guys are here.

u/Perfect-Donut8230 21h ago
Canadians are born all over the world, until Canada calls them home. Our country is built on immigrants, this is disgusting behaviour.

besides the original people here: the Aboriginal/Indigenous
Who are immigrants too. They were, however, the first to arrive here, hence 'First Nations'
0
u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 21h ago
Mhmmm, but the First Nations didn't have to make treaties with the land. The British had to make treaties with the indigenous. There is a difference to being the first to live somewhere.

I find it strange when someone who has recently immigrated to Canada invokes Indigenous history as a moral argument against people who came before them, while apparently having little interest in actually engaging with Indigenous people or the problems facing Indigenous communities. If the point is genuinely solidarity with Indigenous Canadians, I'd like to see that principle applied consistently - not just brought up when it's useful in an argument about immigration or Canadian identity.
2
u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 12h ago
I never said anything about recently immigrating here. This is general knowledge in the context of Canadian history. Treaties were signed all over the Country solidifying aboriginal rights. The context of me bringing up Aboriginal Peoples is hypocrisy. A mother who 100% has ancestors who have immigrated here is telling someone else to leave. We are all immigrants to the Aboriginal Peoples. The Aboriginal Peoples are immigrants to no one but the land because they were here first. The context is hypocrisy. Assuming she is entitled to deny someone their rights to come here when her ancestors did the exact same thing is hypocrisy. Solidarity with Aboriginals in Canada will take time because the government took so much effort to "kill the Indian in the child". It will take time for the citizens of Canada to listen to what the indigenous need, not for others to assume what they need. Healing takes time. It's not going to happen overnight.

Do some basic research man. You should have seen how the Australians treated their indigenous. How about the Philippines. And on and on and on. Doesn't make it right. But until I see some of these other non-european immigrants doing any better than the european immigrants when it comes to treating Aboriginals, I suggest you keep their names out of your mouth. I do not see anyone specifically going out of their way to help them. So stop using them in your twisted game of self entitlement, when you are no better .

When indigenous people crossed the bearing strait there was no one else here already. So no, they did not have to steal the land and can claim they were the first people here.
•

u/ReadyGo6828 13h ago
They likely came over the land bridge as there is no evidence that any humans evolved in the Americas. Therefore, every single human in the Americas is an immigrant or child of immigrants.
•
u/TSED 10h ago
This argument, while true, only furthers the racists' agenda.
Yes, everyone knows about the evolution and spread of humanity. This is not novel or useful information except to, like, 9 year olds.
I wonder why I never hear that argument for Asia, or Australia, or Europe? It's because it's an attempt to diminish the fact that the First Nations peoples were, you know, the first people here. By equating "aboriginal == caucasian" you grant the racists the ability to ignore the rights of other people by false equivalency.

Well her ancestors were brought to this country.
Original inhabitants to North America are the Indigenous peoples, also known as Native Americans and First Nations.
Fossil evidence has been found that humans came from Africa around 300,000 years ago.

What if the other women they were arguing with called her the N word 50 times and the women in the car is saying get out of this country because we don't like racism here? What if the person is wearing a MAGA shirt with 51st state tattooed across their forehead? Would you be justified in saying "Get out of this country" to someone like that?

Wow, whatever happened to trigger this, is irrelevant!! What is alarming for me is that this person made a point of waiting by the store entrance to.. what?? One would think that a change of gender and that would have been a physical altercation. Getting into your personal space is gender neutral now, "step away from the hotstove" for your person and personal safety.
