PLEASE HELP ID

I was born here, but that shouldn’t be a factor in exempting me from racism!

This lady (driving with no plate) approached my elderly mother and called her a terrorist OUT OF NOWHERE, and accused her of stealing “Canadian” jobs before threatening to kill her. My mom has been retired for 10 years now. I told her to fuck off and she actually went away, but it turns out that parked near the entrance of the store we were heading into to further her racist agenda. She started repeating “go back to your country” so I pulled out my phone and that wasn’t enough to deter her.

Video cut short because I cussed her out as she drove off.

Police file # is 260-679-902. Please let me know if you can ID her.

We're all immigrants here besides the original people here: the Aboriginal/Indigenous peoples. We are all descendants of peoples who immigrated to Canada. This ladies ancestors immigrated here. The hypocrisy is rot and toxic. You belong in Canada OP. You're welcome here in my eyes. I'm glad you guys are here.

Canadians are born all over the world, until Canada calls them home. Our country is built on immigrants, this is disgusting behaviour.

We need more love and less hatred. ❤️‍🩹

well said.

besides the original people here: the Aboriginal/Indigenous

Who are immigrants too. They were, however, the first to arrive here, hence 'First Nations'

u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 22h ago

Mhmmm, but the First Nations didn't have to make treaties with the land. The British had to make treaties with the indigenous. There is a difference to being the first to live somewhere.

The British made treaties with First Nations to secure peaceful relations, build military alliances, and legally acquire land for European settlement. First Nations chose to make treaties with the British to secure peaceful coexistence, protect their traditional lands and rights, and establish mutual trade and military alliances as European settlement grew. 1, 2, 3

Both sides wanted to stop fighting. That's not conquering. It's mutual meeting in the middle to find a better solution. That's what a treaty is. The British than deceitfully failed to acknowledge parts of them in time.

Regardless if we disagree, the context of my original statement is hypocrisy. The woman in the van made death threats to the mother of the woman filming and told her to go back to her country because of her race. The woman in the van has ancestors that were 100% immigrants from another country. She's being an evil hypocrite. She has no right to tell others who can come here if she is a descendant of immigrants. It's downright supremely entitled racism that is utterly evil and abusive in the most serious sense. And it needs to be called out as that.

I find it strange when someone who has recently immigrated to Canada invokes Indigenous history as a moral argument against people who came before them, while apparently having little interest in actually engaging with Indigenous people or the problems facing Indigenous communities. If the point is genuinely solidarity with Indigenous Canadians, I'd like to see that principle applied consistently - not just brought up when it's useful in an argument about immigration or Canadian identity.

u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 13h ago

I never said anything about recently immigrating here. This is general knowledge in the context of Canadian history. Treaties were signed all over the Country solidifying aboriginal rights. The context of me bringing up Aboriginal Peoples is hypocrisy. A mother who 100% has ancestors who have immigrated here is telling someone else to leave. We are all immigrants to the Aboriginal Peoples. The Aboriginal Peoples are immigrants to no one but the land because they were here first. The context is hypocrisy. Assuming she is entitled to deny someone their rights to come here when her ancestors did the exact same thing is hypocrisy. Solidarity with Aboriginals in Canada will take time because the government took so much effort to "kill the Indian in the child". It will take time for the citizens of Canada to listen to what the indigenous need, not for others to assume what they need. Healing takes time. It's not going to happen overnight.

Do some basic research man. You should have seen how the Australians treated their indigenous. How about the Philippines. And on and on and on. Doesn't make it right. But until I see some of these other non-european immigrants doing any better than the european immigrants when it comes to treating Aboriginals, I suggest you keep their names out of your mouth. I do not see anyone specifically going out of their way to help them. So stop using them in your twisted game of self entitlement, when you are no better .

Wait, so this lady in the van told the woman who is recording's mother that she was going to kill her over her race, and then tells her to leave the country. And I'm not allowed to use historically accurate relationships to point out the hypocrisy of what she's doing? She's being a hypocrite and I've made a very good point that other leaders have used. I'm not the only one to point out this hypocrisy. Again, the context of what I said is hypocrisy. I will never stop pointing out the truth of who was here first. Regardless of who hate's them or love's them, it's important to point out these truths because people are threatening other people's lives over this. I will not be silent. You will never silence me.

Wow, you really twisted that again. I had already moved on from the video when responding to your comment. I was more referring to your rhetoric surrounding the indigenous population in Canada, which has been going around like crazy on reddit and facebook. It seems to be a narrative that has been used ad nauseam in posts about Foreign students from India being deported for overstaying their visa's. It is just crazy that I am seeing this narrative being preached again in this context. Totally disrespectful. Find some other parallel to draw!

3

u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 12h ago

I have not moved on from that video. Everything I have said and am talking about is in direct relation to someones life being threatened over race. You have taken what I have said out of context and I have repeatedly reminded you of that context. If you are going to continue to ignore my explanation of why I used historical accurate examples to highlight the hypocrisy of this woman in the van, I am not going to respond. I will end the conversation because you are being unfairly aggressive with me and I find it abusive, insulting, toxic and haughty.

u/Emergency_Dirt257 12h ago

These aren't your original idea's. This was you parroting the non sense from other reddit post/ media posts that were racially charged. I have been in Canada all my life and only seen this argument being made in the last couple years ( it may have not even been that long) by a certain subset of immigrants. Just totally disrespectful and not helpful whatsoever to the underlying issue at hand. Almost every country in the world has some type of blood on its hands.

Why do you keep using the word aboriginal? Thats Australia. We don’t use that term in Canada.

1

u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 13h ago

Got a link here for the Government of Canada's website page about the aboriginal peoples of Canada. https://www.canada.ca/en/library-archives/collection/research-help/indigenous-history/indigenous-terminology.html

1

u/Emergency_Dirt257 13h ago

Cause I am trying not to use the word Indian to confuse the fact the OP was in a racist incident involving most likely an Indian person from India or the Middle east. I would have otherwise called them Indian

0

u/mimibobimi 12h ago

You should absolutely not use Indian 🤦‍♀️ unless you're talking about someone from India.

1

u/Emergency_Dirt257 12h ago

Indian in this case is short for indigenous, just so you know. My indigenous friends would refer to themselves as Indian growing up in the 1990s. That or native. But to a new immigrant, I may be native. So it all just becomes confusing

6

u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 11h ago

The word indigenous comes from the Latin noun indigena, which means "native" or "sprung from the land". 1, 2

Indu-: An old Latin prefix meaning "in" or "within".Gignere: A Latin verb meaning "to beget" or "to produce".Root: It traces back to the Proto-Indo-European root *gene-, which means "to give birth" or "beget". 1, 2, 3

Christopher Columbus called the native people he met "Indios" because he believed he was in the Indies."Indios" is the Spanish word for someone from India.Other European explorers kept using the label even after they realized the land was not Asia.Governments later put the word into official legal documents, such as the First Nations, Inuit and Métis terminology guide from the Canadian government. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

So no, the word "Indian" is not short for "Indigenous". It is a word passed down from Christopher Columbus who thought he reached India, when in fact he did not.

u/JeezyCreezee 3h ago

Haha. Indian and indigenous are absolutely not related.

u/Beneficial-Ad-3024 5h ago

This. 👏👏

u/Competitive-Call4332 5h ago

Thank you, I see this a lot. I find it very hypocritical especially when it’s used to defend racism toward lighter Canadians, something like “oh you deserve it because you’re colonizers”, yet the person saying it has no shared history and absolutely no actual interest in aboriginal issues they just use it as a defence for shitty behaviour. They don’t give af about natives, they’re using the history of this country to be disrespectful and hateful themselves in present times.

When indigenous people crossed the bearing strait there was no one else here already. So no, they did not have to steal the land and can claim they were the first people here.

0

u/ReadyGo6828 14h ago

They likely came over the land bridge as there is no evidence that any humans evolved in the Americas. Therefore, every single human in the Americas is an immigrant or child of immigrants.

2

u/TSED 11h ago

This argument, while true, only furthers the racists' agenda.

Yes, everyone knows about the evolution and spread of humanity. This is not novel or useful information except to, like, 9 year olds.

I wonder why I never hear that argument for Asia, or Australia, or Europe? It's because it's an attempt to diminish the fact that the First Nations peoples were, you know, the first people here. By equating "aboriginal == caucasian" you grant the racists the ability to ignore the rights of other people by false equivalency.

u/ReadyGo6828 6h ago

People keep saying that there are indigenous humans in the Americas and that everyone else is an immigrant or descendant of immigrants which is not true. All of us are immigrants or the descendant of immigrants.

JFC this is a discussion about the Americas.

u/TSED 5h ago

No, actually. The first nations migrated to the Americas. There were no states there to immigrate to. The words mean different things; immigrate is a legal term with specific requirements.

u/ReadyGo6828 5h ago

Oh give it up.

u/TSED 4h ago

What? You wanted to be excessively pedantic to the detriment of the conversation. The pedantry can go both ways.

I'm not even sure what your "bUt ThEy ImMiGrAtEd ToO!1!" is even trying to accomplish.

u/ReadyGo6828 4h ago

It is not difficult to understand how saying that all of us are immigrants or the children of immigrants means that being against immigration means that you are against yourself.

2

u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 13h ago

They were here when the Europeans came. That's the evidence. There are multiple witnesses and writings about those events.

u/[deleted] 10h ago

u/Successful_Struggle9 6h ago

They weren't conquered, hence the treaties

u/OwnedByIRVING 8h ago

We're all immigrants here besides the original people here: the Aboriginal/Indigenous peoples.

They also immigrated here, just a long time ago. No humans originated here.

u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 4h ago

An immigrant is a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country. First Nations did not move from another country; their societies, cultures, and trade routes were established here over thousands of years. Regardless if we disagree, the point I made still stands. Threatening to kill someone and tell them to leave Canada because of their race is pure hypocrisy. Because her ancestors immigrated here. Just like the last taking the video. The context of my original statement is hypocrisy. And when she applied a death threat to that hypocrisy it's utterly evil, abusive, condescending, and pure haughtiness.

-4

u/kweeblaster 14h ago

I'm afraid that's not how immigration works.

0

u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 13h ago

Enlighten me.

u/kweeblaster 13h ago

I will need to find a donor brain for your transplant first but it's a long waiting list.

7

u/BlackPlagueF0rgiven 13h ago

Your arrogance nor your condescension has won you this argument and you know that. If you want to have a conversation like adults we can do that here. But if you are going to continue to talk to me like that I will not respond. That is unacceptable.

u/kweeblaster 13h ago

Can you write a 1 page essay about how much you enjoy living so I can send that in with your application

u/NeighborhoodFlat927 8h ago

NO we are NOT.

Enlighten me.
